We had a lot of fun with the travel trailer here. Only one loop open while we visited with limited access to the Rogue river. Fantastic biking/running trail runs along the bank of the Rogue. Full hookups, decent cell coverage. One of the nicer and more rare features was a yurt site that also had an RV pad with full hookups. Great for two families where only one has an RV. My son spent the day skiing at nearby Ashland ski resort while me, my wife, and our daughter hiked the amazing trails surrounding Lithia Park in Ashland. Lots to do in a 50 mile radius of this park, so great for longer stays.

We stopped overnight while traveling to California. The park is very convenient to the freeway and is easy to get a trailer or bigger rig in and out of. The night we were there it had been raining. Both the grass and paved areas had poor drainage which resulted in muddy lawns and standing water in all low areas of the paved campsites. In spite of this little criticism, the park was clean and we were far enough from the freeway to not hear it. We would stay here again.

Great place to walk or bicycle. Beautiful views of the Rogue River. Great camping/RV spot. Good rest stop with clean, new facilities.

Stayed here while buying our home across the river in 1969. We are still here and visit the park when friends stay there. Also great bike path nearby

If you are traveling along Interstate 5 and need a change from being crammed into tiny sites at other RV parks, this is a great alternative. It does sit between I5 and the Rouge River so there will be traffic noise just like every other stop close to this highway. The park is split into three sections; full 50amp hook-ups, electric/water only and tent campers only. Sites have large level asphalt pads with picnic table and fire ring. The road thru the park is smooth and easy to get around. In the full hook-up section most sites are back-ins but there are plenty of long pull thrus for the over-nighter who doesn’t want to unhook. There are lots of large trees for shade but you can find some spots that have an open sky for your satellite. Sprint phone and 3G were a bit slow; there is no WIFI or cable TV here. Bathrooms, showers and laundry were all clean and Park staff was friendly and helpful. The dump station can be used for 3.00 dollars even if you’re not staying at the park.

We spent four nights at Valley of the Rogue State Park in August 2014. It is a pleasant, convenient and central camping area for the many attractions of Oregon's Rogue Valley. As state park campgrounds go, it's rather basic, but the amenities are top notch. It is also very large, with expansive loops for tent and RV camping. We stayed in the tent loop and found the sites well appointed, with good parking, water, fire rings and picnic tables. The newish restroom and shower building was quite nice, and no more than about 300 feet from any given campsite. Many of the tent sites had partial shade - a must for southern Oregon's hot summer days. The Rogue River was also within 200 feet - not visible from campsites, but close enough for a morning of wading, skipping rocks and all the things kids like to do near a body of water. The park also had newly paved paths to allow kids to bike and/or scooter about. We didn't do any park activities because our primary focus was nearby attractions. VORSP is very close to Whitewater Rafting on the Rouge River (20 min), Crater Lake National Park (90 min), and the incredible Oregon Caves National Monument (90 min), as well as the quirky tourist attraction of the Oregon Vortex and Mystery House (15 min). Nearby Medford (20 min) and Rouge river (5 min) offer dining, supplies and some fun family activities as well. We enjoyed a fun afternoon with our boys at Medford's Family Fun Park (Mini Golf, Go Karts & Water Bumper Boats, among other activities. The park is also within 30 min of the incredible Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland (one of the nation's greatest regional theaters), and the Britt Music Festival in Jacksonville. The biggest drawback is that VORSP is not "getting away from it all". It is literally right next or Interstate 5. While screened from view, highway noise is constant, but this is the price of the convenience of having your own entrance and exit from the freeway - mighty nice when it is your home base for the region's fantastic sights and activities.

The good, convient to the 5 freeway, super nice camp host, clean restrooms, showers ect.the bad: convient 2 the 5 freeway, you can see the cars on the freeway, its about 20 yards from park boundrys = very noisy + nightime road construction, the rouge through this area is not that scenic.

This was our first time staying at Valley of the Rogue SP. Evidently, this is one of the older parks in Oregon. The RV sites are pretty close together, and the showers are somewhat antiquated, but clean. There is a high berm between the freeway and the state park.

We spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed it. The campground was nice, new picnic tables, great paved roads, good biking! Quiet. We were right next to the Rogue River rapids and loved the sound all night. The river has a lot of places where you can raft or canoe or kayak. Enjoyed this park and will be back.

We were in F loop back closer to the river- it was perfect! The added bonus is there is a clean outhouse at the start of the bike trail which was out behind our site (not critical, but nice & private if you know what I mean). We liked the paved bike trails and the two frisbee golf holes (apparently they are trying it out to see if they should install more). We've learned that we like to have electricity (and it eliminates the noisy generators). Yes, it's near the freeway, but with limited options this was great for our needs. We purchased firewood from the yurt host for $5 a bundle. We came from the Redwoods so enjoyed the warmth. Even though it's close to the river, the sites are not within site of the river, but the scenery is nice with an occasional glimpse of the freeway.

Spent one night here while traveling south to points in California. This is a typical Oregon State Park, well maintained, very clean restrooms, nice showers and very helpful camp hosts. This one is fairly close to the freeway, so you will get that noise, however, this is a really nice place to stay! The beautiful Rogue River runs through the camp, so bring your fly rod! No cable TV service here, however you might pick up a couple channels if you really need to. Cell phone reception was "okay", but a little spotty at best. They were cleaning the whole park up while we were there and Oregon does know how to run a park. Prices are hard to beat. If you're taking an RV though and need a place to kick back after a day of driving, I really suggest this one.

We live close by so for a quick weekend this is our go to spot. F loop is our favorite. If you stay on the outside of the loop there is a ton of room out back for the kids to play & have a great time. The freeway is close by & you can hear it but in 5 minutes you don't even notice it any more. Jr. ranger program for kids is great also. Nice trail along the river. Overall a fantastic place. If you are going with a few others you can get the the spots on the corner, f33-f35 I believe & you get a huge area for yourself. Great blackberry picking too if the time is right.

If you're trying to escape the heat of the valley, this park won't do it. If it's 100 in town, it is 100 here. That being said, if you're looking for a quick get away or are visiting the area this park could be a good location. You'll have to ask the ranger for a shady spot, many have very little. Negatives:There is freeway noise all of the time but it isn't overwhelming. The campsites are a bit close and if you have loud neighbors that may be a problem. This park is also connected to a freeway rest stop. I wasn't really happy about that. Positives:The Rogue River is walking distance and you can fish or wade in a man made area. The river itself is moving to quickly here for a relaxing swim of any kind. There are some bike trails we'd like to explore, don't know how far you can go.

Lovely clean park in close proximity to Interstate 5. We used as a base camp for exploring Medford and outlying areas. We chose a camp spot on the river side. Although you could still hear freeway noise, it was not an issue for us.

There is good news and bad news about this place.First the bad - This is not a place to stay if you like hiking or camping down long dirt roads at campsites with no running water and pit toilets. This is not the place to camp if you like peace and quiet with lot's to do around the campground. This is not the place to stay if you want to camp near a swimming spot. The bathrooms were okay, but the rest of campground didn't have much to recommend it. There aren't any large lawns, the volleyball court is a big litter box. The campground is wedged between the river and the freeway and even though there are plenty of trees between the sites and the road, you can always hear it. Unfortunately there are also a lot of trees between the sites and the river so you can neither see nor hear it. The river runs pretty swiftly past the park and it didn't appear that there are any good swimming holes. Additionally, because it is right off the freeway there were several transients who seemed to have made a permanent home at some of the sites. This is as good a place to note that after it got dark a State Park patrol truck would drive by about once an hour. Now for the good - If you are looking for a place to park your trailer for the night while you travel along the I-5, or if you are visiting friends or family in the area and don't plan on spending a lot of time at the campground, it's just about perfect! The sites are relatively clean and spacious with several pull through sites. The riverside trail is a good way to spend an hour but it was pretty overgrown when we walked it in early June. This would also be a good spot to stay if you are new to camping (either tent or trailer) as you aren't too far out in the boonies if you forget something or if you decide it's time to pack it in.
