I have lived in the Portland area for 34 years and have never made it out to Haag Lake. Now that I'm retired I find the time to rediscover the things I loved to do as a kid such as fishing or anything outdoors. So I drove from Keizer to the lake but I did it via Beaverton instead of the more direct route through Newberg. It's a nice drive through Cornelius and Forest Grove into the countryside. This was a fact finding mission in November so I could take the grandkids somewhere to fish in the spring when the weather turns good again. I drove the 11 mile loop around the lake and back across the top of the dam to complete the loop wishing the weather was warm and I was on my Triumph Motorcycle. There are two boat ramps and multiple picnic areas along the 11 mile loop. Almost half the lake is a no wake zone and there is plenty of bank fishing but since I haven't tried it yet I can't attest to the fishing. Seems like a real nice place, close in to the population areas and basically a nice short drive through the country. In about 6 months I'll take the grandkids and write another review but for this time of year it would be a nice place to go to hike one of the many trails. There is a toll booth for day use fees and there is a discount for seniors, veterans and season passes are available. I wish I had taken the time when I was younger to experience Haag Lake so go out and have some fun!

We live near Hagg Lake and have a ski boat. For boating the lake is especially nice during the week on hot summer days. The further into summer the warmer the water is. On weekends the water is crowded with too many boats and is choppy and not fun to ski or wakeboard on. There are several areas for sunbathing and swimming and picnicking. Some areas have picnic shelters and shaded areas too. I don't care for the clay, silt bottom of the lake shore so I avoid going into the water from the shore. On a sad, last note, every single year there is a drowning or near drowning at Hagg Lake. Especially sad since there are little Kiosks dotted around the lake that offer free use of life jackets for anyone to wear and return when finished swimming for the day.

This may be a pretty lake to boat on but a very poor swimming site for young families. Little shade, rocky mud to get into water. No sand for young children to play in. There is a decent washroom. No grass. Really needs major improvements if it wants to be compared to Lake Oswego for a day at the beach

The lake is pretty and has a lot of potential for water activities but like all other Oregon places is severely under developed. I heard you can rent boats but we could not find the rental place even after circling the entire lake. A lot of people use it as a cheap picnic spot which makes it dirty and not quite as pleasant as it could have been. I hope they work on improving it as it would be an awesome place to take the kids for the day. Lots of bees so be careful while eating, especially in the shelters.

Don't open your mouth! Unfortunately when I did a triathlon in this lake a couple of years ago, I got Giardia - AND so did my friend! Pretty gross and I did have to notify my local health department but I also notified Washington county, don't really know what can be done about Giardia in a lake except maybe warn people!

Enjoy walking, biking, fishing, boating, sunbathing, picnicking,BBQ Great walking trail to the Dock for wheelchairs. In the heat of the summer the dock is high for fishing best to go in June or July. They stock this lake with trout. so fun to watch the little ones catch fish if you have patience for that.

I never enjoy this park! My husband takes us to this park often because he loves to go for the fishing, although he rarely catches anything:) The kids and I hate this park. It's hard to enjoy anything with all the bees, flies, and mosquitos. Not much for the kids to do. Swimming off the boat ramp is dangerous, and there's no beach. Worst of all is there's hardly any trees in the picnic areas or near the lake, so be prepared to suffer in the blaring heat of the sun. This park gets extremely hot in the summer months, so go prepared. The drive to Hagg Lake can be dangerous, lots of drunk drivers! We much prefer Silver Falls State Park.

Fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, picnicing, boating, or other adventures. Close by is Tree 2 Tree, a zip line venue for special adventure for the family. The setting is beautiful and biking and running events are held there during the summer. It costs $5 to enter the park.

Hagg Lake is great. Located outside of Portland, Oregon off hwy 26 - it's a big lake, easily accessible. If you are out of town GET A ONE DAY fishing pass PRIOR to entering the Park. There is a fee to enter the park and it has a great trails to hike around on. You can boat there as long as you have all the right permits. It's best to go to the lake's website if you have any additional questions. There is Mesquito's a plenty around the water's edge so bring the repellant!! Lots and lots of blackberries in late August/September which make excellent jam!!!Take a couple of containers and pick to your hearts content! There is LOTS of places to fish off the banks of Hagg Lake. If you haven't packed a picnic lunch there Is a store about 1/2 or so before the entrance but other then that there is NO store, food vendors etc. in the park! Go prepared! Fun filled place where the kids can swim (no lifeguards), fish and/or for couples or by yourself. Great Accessible location and FUN!! Don't know about fish, have gone fishing there several times and got lots of nibbles but no big catch. Have had friends that swear by the trout they caught there's fish in that there Lake. UMMMMMM have yet to catch to see!! Hagg Lake is located outside of Forest Grove, Gaston. Happy Fishing!

My husband was bit by something...? A water spider maybe? In between his toes as we were wading in the water. He could not walk for a few days. It was horrible. Not a good place to go if you don't own a boat to go out ON the water in.

Hagg Lake is a great place to work on your shifting and hill work. It's short, about 11 miles, but you'll definitely get a workout. My wife and I ride a tandem bicycle, so there is a lot of coordination necessary, especially in the transitions at the bottom of a hill. Traffic is usually light. Pavement is average.

Beautiful site, Very peaceful, fun fishing, great for picnics and family fun. Walks in all directions, and boating

It's a stocked 'lake', so this is the place to go for easy fishing, good to do with kids or alone. There are plenty of spots to pull off to get to the shore and a small fishing pier in the main park area. We always have a nice day at Haag.

This is a great place to come tan, swim, use your boat or for sports: biking and running around the lake. It is good for families, friends, events and for solo trips.

The day we went, we took a picnic and ate around the lake on a blanket. There are many picnic areas available. Boat, fishing swimming and other water sports can be done there
