Friendly vintner, lovely wines, and beautiful surroundings - this is my favorite winery in Oregon. It's on the top of a hill, so the views are fantastic, and there are picnic tables under the trees for a perfect lunch spot. I always buy unique Christmas ornaments for my friends when I come here - the selection is the best I've ever seen. We always visit Shafer's when we come to Oregon and it's a highlight of our trip.

We decided to do a bit of wine tasting and selected this winery on a lark. We were most pleased with our selection. There is nothing pretentious about this place but the wine was very good and we did end up buying a couple of bottles to take home. More importantly, the staff at the tasting room was very friendly, informative and laid back. They offer a nice discount to veterans so be sure to let them know. We took a picnic lunch and spent a very pleasant couple of hours enjoying the view and chatting with the staff. For those who collect Christmas stuff, they have a very large collection of "smokers" for sale. We will certainly return.

Wine not wonderful here. The Christmas shop however is great. I would just visit for that. The smokers are cool.

The location an views are beautiful at this hidden vineyard. The owner, working the taste sampling was a pleasure to talk to, we could have spent all afternoon at the winery with her. The wines had a unique taste forcing us to buy a few bottles. We bought a few gifts at the winery which were shipped home for us for free. Great experience, wonderful wine.

You'd never know it unless you stumbled upon it or read it online, but the owners have this amazing room in back of the tasting room filled with really hight quality Christmas ornaments and these really cool German wood incense burner things, you can buy one with different characters, scenes. Everything from a Bakery to a Postman to a Gardner etc. Beautiful view from the top of the winery.

My lady and I tried to visit this place a few days ago. She is unable to walk so we drove around the grounds. We went up a road which a pickup truck has just came down from, and which bordered a picnic area. What a mistake! Although there were no signs, we apparently entered an off-limits area. A man came drove up and told us to leave. Not just to leave that area, but to leave the grounds. We then stopped at the wine tasting room. The same man followed us down, got out of the truck and began yelling at us to leave now. We became alarmed at his violent manner, and left right away. We never even had a chance to taste the wine but this experience sure left a bad taste in our mouths.

We have visited Shafer many times and always enjoyed our experience. Miki makes wine tasting very enjoyable and always makes you feel very welcomed. There are many different types of wines and something for everyone. The Christmas shop is an added bonus to get a start on your holiday shopping while sipping their wines. Beautiful view of vineyard and surrounding hills. Many other good vineyards close by to visit to make a day of tasting.

This was a beautiful winery, I could have spent a day just sitting on thier grounds under the oak trees on the picnic benches.Too bad the wines weren't very good, and the giant santa shop was a little creepy.
