When the market closes at the end of fall, we can hardly wait until it opens back up in spring. We are there almost every weekend.

The Kaen Road site is the parking lot for Clackamas County offices. When the Market is open the lot is devoted to the market and parking. That being the case, the access is easy, flat with plenty of parking. With a number of vendors the variety is impressive, the produce is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Also available are plants, fish, beef, cheese, wine and some prepared foods.

I love our Farmer's Market. They have all kinds of good things. Locally grown veggies, flowers. nursery plants and great baked goods. They play great music, from the local area. They have good food to buy from local restaurants. Just a great experience, on a wonderful, late summer morning.

We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to shop, to be entertained, offered good food and drink and participate in teaching our communities children how to make healthy food choices. We have the Wed afternoon and 9 - 2 Saturday markets....fun...and beneficial. Yeah Oregon City and the wonderful Market manager Jackie!

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the farmers market while looking for dinner.. Great vendors who are very friendly and excited to share there local treats and wares. I ended up bringing home some of the local treats, meats and cheeses.. There is also wine tasting if you would like

Real farmers from the local area with real food. A great family outing for a Saturday morning.

We picked up a lot of different vegetables (potatos, green beans, onions, beets, kohlrabi, turnips, sweet potatos) then got bread, cookies, honey, sausage and cheese. Everything we needed. The Winter Market (downtown on 8th Street) looks like it has expanded quite a bit this year.

When we first moved to Oregon City from California, we were delighted to support the first few years of this farmers' market on a weekly basis. The market began as a modest seasonal Saturday affair in a city parking lot, with a handful of local farmers offering quality produce at very reasonable prices. Fortunately or unfortunately, it has grown into a much larger-scale (and upscale) affair. Sadly, the farmers now have to pay a fairly high price each week for their booth, and they have to pass that cost on to the marketgoers. As a result, the small farmers offering only one or two seasonal items at a time are gone, and they have been replaced by much larger-scale farms offering a variety of produce (much of which they do not grow themselves, as evidenced by the stamps of origin on the boxes), and the booths are now mostly staffed with bored, minimum-wage, minimum-knowledge help rather than the farmers themselves. The farmers are also now outnumbered by the vendors selling "stuff." Even more troubling is the increasing number of booths featuring aggressive community activists accosting market-goers to sign petitions and the like (note to market organizers: GET RID OF THESE GUYS if you want to keep the family atmosphere - please keep the FARMER in "farmer's market"!).I used to buy ALL my in-season produce and a lot of nursery plants at the market, but now go only for the "specialty" items I can't find at local markets and farm stands, such as fresh mushrooms and whole, fresh-caught tuna, and the incomparable (but very dearly priced) local peaches. Only one of my favorite family farms still has a booth at the market (but who knows for how much longer). If you go, please support the Hansens - they are nice people and have wonderful produce and responsibly raised meats. I shake my head sadly every time I see the proud market announcements that vendors accept the Oregon Trail card (i.e., welfare) - I can't imagine that most welfare recipients could afford to shop at the market except as a rare treat. I know I can't - and our family is upper-middle-class. Overall, the market organizers seem more interested in the market as a "high concept" than an actual community service benefiting farmers and locals. The result is attractive and entertaining, but it's taking the "farmer" out of "farmer's market."

Popped into the market the day we arrived from the UK - was really impressed with the range of produce available - fresh fish, meat, great cheeses, lovely chutnies and sauces and sweet and savoury crepes that were the best I've eaten, even gluten free (buckwheat) - all in all, if you are in Oregon County, it's well worth a visit.

This market has only been running a few years, but it keeps getting better and better! I try to visit it as many times as I can while it's open, Saturdays 9AM-2PM, May through October. The market has a emphasis on local produce with other booths such as fresh goat cheese, breads, handmade soap, plants, and more. I'm happy this market is in my home town, and it makes me happy to shop local!
