It is out of the way, but a must see to understand Baker Counties history. It is unfortunate that the State does not keep the site in a better state of repair out of respect for the remaining burials in the area. But, you step though time as you walk and read the information posted. You will leave with a better idea of life 100 years ago.

A fairly rustic, yet interesting site. It's also free. It's outdoors on a rough plot of land. With rustic signs detailing the history behind the cemetery and the contributions of Chinese laborers to the area where they worked mines and dug many of the irrigation ditches throughout the valley.

The Chinese cemetery is across the street from the Super 8, it was small but the info sign gave good history

A patch of sage brush next to the highway with holes in the ground, cigarette butts in the prayer shrine, depressing. There r better places to learn about chinese culture.

There is actually nothing to see, no old graves. The bones were exumed and brought back to China. The windmill across the street is more interesting.

There isn't really much here; a sign, a tombstone, a pagoda, and empty graves.. But it is an interesting look into a part of Oregon history much ignored, the contributions of Chinese to the development of the state. Worth a quick stop.

Tucked away just off I-84 Exit 304, the Chinese Cemetery offers a window into an important piece of Western history. Chinese men worked the mines, railroads, laundries and restaurants of Eastern Oregon and faced discrimination and brutal working conditions. The cemetery has two reader boards, a pavilion, and a replica Prayer House. Most of the people buried here were exhumed and returned to China, though there are several unmarked graves remaining and one marked grave. Well worth a 30 minute sidetrip.

First visit, brought family from out of town. Quite interesting. Never knew what was in store for us at this site. Very lovely monument.

The Chinese Cemetery in Baker, OR is located on Windmill Road. Take exit 304 off I-84. The reader board explain some of the history of the Chinese in Baker, a Pagoda (made im China), a marble stone naming the people known to have been buried in the cemetery. Most of those buried here were exhumed and returned to China. There is one stone remaining and it is known that at least 3 others remain buried here.Wonderful place to learn history of this area....also be sure to get a picture of the Windmill just across the road. I haven't been able to locate historical significane of this yet.
