When visiting this part of Tulsa we always stop here for a walk. My dog loves to climb the large rocks while I enjoy the easy walking areas.Polite and nice locals come here for walking, hiking, and bike riding with and without dogs. The calming effect of the park needs to be forever kept the same, yet improvement for trails, or the fixing of trails should be done and not forgotten. Every city needs a park that is for everyone from dog owners to horse owners.

I live in a suburb and discovered this place about 5 years ago when I started trail running. I still occasionally find myself on a an unfamiliar trail! Bring a map or your smartphone if you are at all directionally challenged. If you want to have a tree-hugging, nature-communing moment, this is the place, with wildlife (deer, wild cats, rabbits, foxes, raccoons, ducks, mussels, myriad pretty little birds) and multiple ponds and scenic views. I have brought 4 children on 4-mile hikes and we all had a lot of fun (bring snacks and water). For the less popular trails (not Yellow) on a crowded day, head north and west to be alone for miles. You can hear the highway if you listen closely, but to your eyes you are way out in the wilderness. As for recent controversy, public opinion seems to be turning against the proposed mall on the northwestern trails, which will hopefully give the preservation groups and conservation-minded individuals time to buy it to protect instead.

I don't have to go far to feel like im away from it all. Its really a nice peaceful tract of nature. Its too bad a stupid outlet mall is going to be built not too far tho..I hope it is not visible from park.

Turkey mountain is the best place in Tulsa for hiking and biking trails. Great view of Tulsa is a plus.

What a great place to take your family for a fun hike. My only complaint is the numerous dogs not on leashes. It's posted as a rule, but some dog owners don't comply with the rule. Other than that, we love hiking here.

My husband and I spend most of our time here hiking the trails; it's perfect for dogs. We have also ridden our bikes along the West side of the Riverpark Trail and enjoyed the remote and arboreal features of the riding path. Many wonderful birds - have seen a painted bunting there (years ago). The parking lot and facilities are constantly being improved. Many types of Tulsans use this area - bicyclists, equestrians, hikers, families. If you get far enough down the trails, it takes on its own personality - depending on where you are. Some of ambiance is historical, some is natural, others anthropological.

If you love hiking or walking this is a great place. Trails with different levels to appeal to everyone and beautiful views overlooking the river. A must see for any one who loves a bit of out doors.

Turkey Mountain is a beloved hideaway in the middle of Tulsa. I ride my mountain bike out there and I do a little trail running. There are a lot of access points and it is worth finding them to see which fit your needs. I tend to make my way in and go away from the parking area. There is a significantly lower occupation further in. There are bathroom facilities, drinking fountains (for dogs too) and an outside shower to rinse off the trail or cool off in the summer. Clean up crews of volunteers keep the land clean and safe.

Love, love this area! Its like a different world even though its minutes from major shopping/city life. Beautiful and options as far as the challenge that you want in hiking

I've hiked and biked all over this "mountain" More of a big hill, but definitely a favorite of mine! I love how you can travel to the edge of a major city and be in a complete wilderness area! Thanks to the the George Kaiser Family Foundation, this wonderful place will be around for our kids to enjoy for years to come!

Beautiful but natural trails to get lost in or to find yourself in. Quiet and peaceful place to enjoy a more leisurely walk, brisk hike or run. And if you're into mountain biking, this is for you. Turkey Mountain is high on my dog, Molly's, list of must do.

It's so nice to have an area like this right in town. I live close by and use it all the time. There is an asphalt jogging/biking trail that goes for miles along the perimeter of the area. This trail started on the Arkansas River years ago and now spurs in various directions for tens of miles making it easy to ride road bikes to Sand Springs, Skiatook, and Broken Arrow without having to ride on the city streets. But back to the wilderness area. It is probably 3 or 4 square miles in size, very hilly with ponds, cliffs, ridges and mostly treed. There are lots of dirt/rock trails that are shared between mountain bikes and hikers/joggers. The yellow and blue trails are the busiest. Get off on the red trail to the NW side of the area and there are a lot fewer people. I like this but some prefer to be where there are more peeps around. A lot of people let their dogs run off leash here including me. Don't do it if your dogs aren't used to the area as it is very dense and easy to get separated from them. I used to walk mine on leash and then started letting them off one at a time and now they are so used to the area I let them off at the same time. The ponds are pretty stagnant so if your dogs swim like mine do they will have a stench to them.If you are hiking alone and feel safer where there are people stay on the yellow trail, the blue trail, or the power line trail. Right after work there are plenty of joggers and bikers nearly everywhere. I suppose it is like that before work also...I don't know. The power line trail is great in the winter when you want some sun and it probably the most challenging workout as it has more up/down that the other trails.

Little hidden gem. Different levels of hiking. Nice view from the top of the mountain. I will return!

If you enjoy hiking and like trails that are challenging you should go hiking at Turkey Mountain. This place is also bike friendly and has a lot of rugged trails for mountain bikes and hikers alike.

This place did not really live up to my expectations. While there are a lot of trails running through there, the people that frequent the place are very rude. I asked about 3 people questions and got a snappy rude answer as they continued on. So unless you are a serious biker/hiker, steer clear. These people take this stuff serious. I heard the place used to be used for people going there for sexual encounters. I think they have put a stop to that and cleaned the area up. When I got back to my car, a car seat had been stem out of my backseat. WILL NOT RETURN. River Parks is way better.
