I live in Shawnee and we enjoy trips to the museum with the grandkids, as well as without! Fantastic collection of artifacts on the campus of St. Gregory's College. A highly recommended stop for lovers of history and art.

Intimate, nice, great to find, small but feels like I am walking through an old friend's beautiful home, educational, and wonderful for a person, family, or a couple. A great place for students and art lovers of all ages. I will return and bring my husband to view it with me!!! :-)

This museum is very small but well laid out. If you go, be sure to go when there is an exhibit there. Unfortunately, we went just after one ended & the new one wasn't set up yet so 1/2 of the the museum was closed as they were at the start of setting up a new exhibit. This is the only museum in OK with a mummy!

It's intimate and you want to see it twice before you leave. The staff is friendly and will help you understand the artwork. I will definitely return!

Out in the middle of Oklahoma is a jewel of a museum. It is located At St. Gregory's university and is a small but significant historical gem. As an historian, I truly enjoyed the visit and spent way too much time absorbing the wonderful ambiance and reading every exibits' information .A must see in Shawnee

I have been visiting the Mabee-Gerrer Museum for a number of years, they have a variety of exhibits which rotate, with special exhibits on view. This isn't a huge museum, but the quality of the art and the exhibits is exceptional, including a nice collection of Egyptian artifacts, something you don't expect in Oklahoma. Don't miss this museum!

We did a tour of this museum with one of the docents, Jean Lancaster, and she gave life to everything we saw! This museum is a true hidden jewel in the town of Shawnee! We will return again and again.

This is an amzing collection of all sorts of primituve art and artifacts. They have pre columbian, egyptian, and art from world famous artists. This is at a working Catholic abbey so some of the exhibits focus on Catholicsm. But a rare chance to see objects that you would normally see.

After driving past the entrance to the museum (it's on the campus at St Gregory's) I finally went in for a show and was really amazed by it. I had not expected to find such a nice gallery and museum tucked away on the outskirts of Shawnee. They get some really nice traveling shows and sometimes do theme displays of local talent as well. Unfortunately I missed the traveling Mata Ortiz pottery show that I really wanted to see. That would have been wonderful.I have seen and shown in some major galleries and art centers across the US, including San Francisco and New York, and I must say that this small one compares very favorably. I'm impressed! They are doing a great job and it's worth a visit.

They were offering free admission last summer and a group of my firiends and I loved the museum. We are all on a fixed income and it was a great opportunity for to have an outing.

Fine small art and archeology museum is best seen with one of the staff or other guides available. Some unusual and fascinating pieces in the collection. Worth a visit.

This was my third and final stop on a day trip to Shawnee with two lady friends. There was no admission charge during summer months. Collection includes an Egyptian mummy, a life-size portrait of a 20th century Pope, Renaissance art, and some whimsical modern art

The art collection at this museum is impressive. A Benedictine monk, traveling the world in the early 20th Century collected treasures unbelievable to find in such an obscure location. Small town Shawnee, Oklahoma is home for the Benedictine Monestary and only Catholic University in the state. Invited in the 1880's by the Potawatomie Nation to their land at Sacred Heart (20 miles S. of university) Benedictine Monks began educating in Oklahoma nearly 20 years before Statehood. After a fire that destroyed most of the buildings at Sacred Heart, the Monks moved north at the invitation of City leaders and established St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee. Beautiful architecture, unique for the area and a museum containing world treasures. Well worth a few hour stopover in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
