For only $4 for seniors, the visitor gets a lot. There are four museums on the grounds along with many old town store fronts. The Route 66 museum has several automobiles and several "scenes" reminiscent of the times.

This museum is actually a part of a complex of museums, all on the same grounds, and all accessible with the same ticket purchase! Lots of cool things to see. If you are traveling down route 66, or just into history or museums, or just wanting to burn a half hour to an hour, check it out. It's a great value for the ticket price.

The first Lady we met as we entered the "national" Route 66 museum could onlybe described as "obnoxious", but she was a whole lot more welcoming than the second lady who, for the sake of this review, will be called "truly nasty". "Obnoxious" blanked me when I offered a cheery hello the first 3 times until I preceded till I received a reply whilst "truly nasty" threw a look and a sneer that would have turned Medusa to stone. We were tight for time and wanted to buy a couple of souvenirs rather than the alleged 1 to 2 hour tour for $5. On tellin "truly nasty" this she told us this wasn't an option in language far less polite than this. We were also told that we weren't allowed to take photos of the interior or exterior of the shop without paying. Public domain really meant nothing to "obnoxious" and "truly nasty". We needed to use a restroom but decided to carry on our journey as this would most likely would have incurred the $5 penalty charge. Would seriously advise to anyone to go to one of the other more welcoming museums along the way as opposed to this one. Explained why we were the only car in the car park!

as museums go this one can be seen quite quickly and is nearly worth $5. rt 66 museums tend to be free or donation requested. that these kids require $5 is likely just to guarantee they stay open

The main building houses the Rt. 66 portion of this museum but take the time to visit the other buildings. Old memorabilia related to highway travel and nostalgia.

You must take the time to take this tour. It is awesome. Very inexpensive and something the entire family can enjoy.

The route 66 Museum in Elk City is a must see. They have several out building out side fixed up like an old town back in the old days, as well as 3 other inside museums that are just full of things associated with Route 66.

We had been driving route 66 for days and then took a day to take to the main roadways. We ended up stopping at this museum for a pit stop. It was well worth the stop. Admission was just $4 adult/$1 child. We enjoyed it, as did the kids.

this museum is short on interesting things to see. not really worth the time if you want to really learn about route 66.all the displays were basic store fronts not actual buildings moved to site.

This Route 66 museum has more than just the history of Route 66. In addition to exhibits showcasing all the states that Route 66 passes through, there are also exhibits and additional buildings showing how life was in the past. You can see how the early settlers in the area lived. We could have spent more time here, but we didn't have enough time. This is a great value and well worth the time.

Really enjoyed this museum,. There were several elements to it and it was great value for $5. We managed to spend about 2 hours looking around the historic old town and the buildings there as well as the rodeo museum. Definitely worth a visit.

Didn't think you could make a museum about history on a road interesting but I was completely wrong. Amazing displays to see. I don't want to give away much but it will take you back in time to offer young something brand new and fun or down memory lane for the older. Extremely low fare for the visit and spent over 3 hours exploring. A MUST STOP

The national 66 Museum is about the best museum on the subject of this icon that I know of in Western Oklahoma. And it is right here in Elk City, Oklahoma. The actual musum is situated on a large property that encludes a recreation of old Elk City. D.J.Julian

We were heading west from Chicago on our Route 66 Roadtrip adventure and came across this little spot! It's a fun museum if you have time to stop!
