My partner and I had often thought of getting side-tracked to Anadarko during one of our semi-annual trips to Ok and this time we finally made it. It's populated primarily by people of the Kiowa, Comanche, Cheyenne and other Southwestern Indian nations. We wandered through the wonderfully moving sculpture garden, a commendable tribute to leaders of the many people who lived on this land before us, fought us to save their rights and sought to bring an honorable peace between the Indian and white races. The artfully sculptured busts and informative plaques bring to mind a true and meaningful history of our country's beginnings. The guides at the visitor center are friendly, inviting and well informed. There is much more Indian art and history to be discovered at Anadarko. We hope to return for a longer stay. We also hope that you'll get side-tracted to this wonderful, quiet and thought provoking experience. Enjoy!
