The Southern Ohio Museum in Portsmouth has a great collection of Native American ("Indian") artifacts upstairs. The collection might be organized and labeled a bit better, but it is extremely well lit and the artifacts themselves (stone tools, copper bracelets, etc) are top quality. The upstairs also features some rather strange art from a Portsmouth artist whose name I forget. A couple of his pieces were good. Downstairs, in the main gallery, was miscellaneous art from Portsmouth artists. Some of it was good. I think the downstairs exhibits change constantly so by now it's probably something entirely new.The museum has nice public bathrooms. The staff was friendly. The tiny gift shop had some nice stuff, including some whimsical animal figures, at prices that seemed high to this cheap Kettering resident.
