They do the best with the vert they have. Terrain park is the best I've seen outside of a real mountain.

We loved our ski club trips to Mad River. Amy was very helpful with this being our first year. The staff was very helpful with the ski lessons. Everything was much better than we had anticipated! I already have kids asking me about next year.

This is my second season up north. Last year was my first season on the snow. I have a 3 year old and a 5 year old. I have been going to Mad River since the '13-'14 season. I have a RFID (direct to lift) season pass. I go at least once per week and sometimes 2-3 times depending on the weather and childcare. This is an excellent place to have fun in the winter. The snowmakers and groomers make great runs and features. Here in central Ohio, its like getting lemonade out of lemons sometimes because the weather can easily be too warm, too icy, no snow etc.... They have private lessons for all ages and kids group lessons start at age 4. They do not have childcare- only lessons. The cafeteria serves up basic things like burgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders while the Loft (bar/ restaurant) has other things like pizza etc... They have excellent bar staff and great variety of drinks including craft beers and domestics on tap. It is a family-friendly environment and there are always lots of kids of all ages. For some this might not be a bonus, but for me it is! I consider it a safe environment and the crowd is usually very nice. College nights (Fri and Sat) can get a little crazy and there are always a few knuckleheads around, but they are easy to ignore. Overall, the staff is great and the groomers provide runs that are fun and safe for people of all abilities. The park features are very well maintained and are always changing to give riders new experiences.

If you want a ski place close to where you live in Ohio this is the best place to go. Lift lines are very short unless you hit a snowy/sunny Saturday, but still, they are not outrageous. Be aware, it is definitely NOT a mountain, it is a hill, you cannot get fatigued going down the runs b/c they are not long enough. With that said, it is Ohio, so you should expect that. Overall, it is a great place to sharpen your skills and to teach beginners to ski at a good price where you don't feel like you are missing out on the mountain by teaching your beginner. There are really no places were a beginner can really "get in trouble" as far as going down the wrong run. While there are blacks they are short (but fun). The best part, in my opinion is the Capital Park terrain park. It is the absolute best terrain park i have been to for skiers. If you are an adult, Saturday night is always fun, they have a live band and decent drink prices. The bartenders are very friendly and quick. I believe it is 21+ after a certain hour on Saturday and it can get a bit crazy, so don't bring your minor children on Saturday night past 9pm.

Stay away on week nights when all the school kids are there. Many of the kids are out of control and unsupervised.

This resort rocks! They are true professionals that care about people! If you email they respond, if you call they call back, if you ask they find an answer! The trials and runs are always groomed and ready to go!

Not a lot of altitude in Ohio, but my kids learned here and can ski/ride anywhere with the skills they have learned. Love coming here on winter weekends and being outside. They do a great terrain park!

Making the most of the geography and the conditions for snow and giving me the opportunity to get maximum enjoyment out of skiing in Ohio. Thank you Mad River Mountain.

Best place in the world to stay fit during the winter. It's always friendly during the week at least among the old school boarders.

Skied Sunday morning and early afternoon. The resort was packed with Scout Day participants and others due to the fresh snow. The staff did a great job of keeping the lift lines moving and the slopes were in ti- top shape.

Although I wasn't able to get up to the mountain as much as I wanted to my visits were extremely enjoyable. Food and beverage has always been very good after a day on the slopes. Guess services were most accommodating.

Forget the pizza line unless you have hours and tons of patience. Unbelievable! Skiinig is fine. They can't handle crowds though.

We ventured out in the cold today and had a blast tubing. Go early because it gets very busy after lunch. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Told us a few times that they hope we have fun. We watched multiple employees help a handicap man with the entire process of getting on and off the moving carpet, and carried his tube to one of the lanes for him. We took a break and had a pop and pretzel at the snack shop. The $3 pretzel was terrible - hard and old. We paid $50 for the 2 of us for 3 hours. We think it's worth it - we went down 13 times!

The Adventure Club staff is great! Really engaged with the kids, and helpful with the parents in getting them situated. My 5 year old daughter loved it!

All of the employees were so friendly and helpful for us first timers. It helps to have reviewed the map a bit more before you get started but I am ready to go back.
