Hubby and I had come close to stopping here the day before, but decided not to. We came back to the Harpoon Brewery (next door) for lunch and popped into the Sustainable Farmer for a minute. The wine tasting was very good. They had a crock of hot mulled wine and some sweets and drys. We ended up purchasing a bottle of the cranberry and the rhubarb they had. Both great flavors. They also had chutneys, marmalades, and cheeses for tasting, but the wines were the choice for us.

While visiting the aritisans area of Windsor VT., we looked into the Sustainable Farmer. They feature a selection of Vermont cheeses and give samples. We had ice cream and felt it was outstanding. Pleasant staff and clean operation.

The Sustainable Farmer has Saturday morning events ranging in making your own grilled cheese sandwich to pairing up their cheeses and local wines. It is located next to Harpoon Brewery, Silo Distillery, Wood Fired Pizza, a rafting outfitter and Simon Pierce. You can play volleyball and eat sitting at a picnic table. It's a great place to be. They have the best brie!

Hi MaBoogins - I am truly sorry you had a bad experience purchasing cheese at our shop. We try really hard to maintain the cheese in the best possible condition but obviously failed in this instance. We appreciate you coming and hope you will give us another try when you are back in our area again. But I did want to write and say "sorry". Please let us know if there is something we could do to help.Best,Terry McDSustainable Farmer

Nice store-friendly staff. Very good cheese and jams. Nice to buy local. Not cheap but that is normal in tourist areas.

A light and beautiful store staffed by charming and knowledgeable help. Willing to allow us to sample before purchase. We stop for ice cream sometimes twice a day on vacation. This was the best we sampled. Right next door to Harpoon Brewery and they also make their own pizza (but not on the day we were there). Wish we had time to try again. Good prices on same products found at many other locations.

So glad our hotel told us to stop in! The staff was extremely knowledgable of the products offered and we were able to sample some amazing local samples. One of our favorite stops of the vacation! Small shop that offered amazing samples of Vermont's local fare! We loved it all!

we wandered in by luck. After sampling several delicious things we had to go back and purchase many. Cheeses, pepperoni, hummus, jellies and our favorite... Maple Ice Cream. Ate our way through the shop then all the way home. Super helpful staff and friendly atmosphere.

On a trip to Vermont with my husband and another couple we stopped into the Sustainable Farmer shop. We stopped in after a tour at the Harpoon Beer Factory... we were hungry which always a bad idea when you stop into a food related store. They had plenty of samples of cheese with different crackers and chips. Everything was so tasty.. would've been because I was so hungry but I did buy some cheese and they were just as good at home. I didn't realize cheese can be kinda pricey but for the quality it was worth it. We got the peppered cheese (my husband's favorite), cheddar cheese (it was ok), and the goats milk cheese (my favorite, but make sure to eat it right away cause it will turn quickly). The customer service was super friendly. We really didn't know the area too well and they even helped us on where to go to have dinner. Check their websites on when they have their cheese tastings, it's worth dropping by and trying their cheese!

Lots of local cheeses, meats, honey, syrups, soaps, etc are featured here. A must stop. Samples are gladly offered

Good cheese is a nice thing. Great cheese is a special thing to be savored and enjoyed with special things and special people. Sample some of the very best artisan cheese in Vermont all in one place. The staff really knows their cheese so go chat and try things you wouldn't normally buy because you haven't tasted it. They also have an excellent variety of local crackers, mustards, etc. that compliment different cheeses. Keep your eye open for pairing days, too. Find out about good wines or Harpoon beers that go with these great cheeses.
