Just echoing what many others have said previously. We have travelled to many different children's museums in several different states, and this is by far one of the best. It's the perfect size, very engaging, with a "hands-on" focus to all of its exhibits. We live 1.5 hours away, but visit this museum at least 6 times a year because it's worth it. Our kids (6 and 3) never tire of it, and neither do we. A magical place.

My 10 year old son LOVED this museum! He could have stayed all day (and wanted to!) We stayed about 2.5-3 hours, and would have stayed longer if we didn't have other plans. There are lots of different activities that we both enjoyed - three or four floors of activities and hands on exhibits! I love that there are outdoor hiking trails - It is in such a beautiful spot. We walked outside for a bit, but it was a little too cold! It's definitely worth the price of admission. The ant display was fascinating! I would highly recommend this to others, and hope to return in warmer temps!

Kids loved this place! I have to say, there are a lot of things I learned myself and there were some great puzzles that I had to be dragged out by my wife from because they were very challenging for me. There were exhibits in physics and mechanics as well as exhibits detailing the lives of real bees and ants. Very educational. Wish I could spend more time on the puzzles!

I must admit I was very skeptical when I went into the museum. My sister, a biology student at Dartmouth, really wanted to go, but all I saw were little kids. So we paid the $13 entry -- a bit pricey if you ask me -- and went in. As I walked around the animal exhibits on the first floor and up to the second, I had no clue how I could possibly spend an entire afternoon there.Turns out, one afternoon wasn't enough.I quickly got sidetracked by the brain puzzles on the second floor, which are much too hard for any kid to complete and wound up spending most of my stay there. It was really fun, and I didn't get to solve them all. But after I'd completed a few, a nice museum host walked up and showed me some of the "tricks" behind the answers. I really enjoyed myself, and would like to go back to see more of the museum, and walk the 2 mile loop around the grounds.

Great for young ones and old ones! We had a great time! We will be sure to return. The outside trails are a lot of fun!

Wonderful museum with a focus on children's exhibits that they can touch and feel. We went to see "Sue", T Rex (that exhibit ends 9/7/14), but the rest of the museum is worth a visit any time. I am embarrassed to say that I didn't realize it was there-just off I 91 north of White River Junction. Very impressive for a small Vermont town on the Connecticut River.

If I could award more than 5 stars I would. We just loved this museum so much that we are going back again in a couple of days. We are not children but seniors (in our 2nd childhood perhaps) and there was just so much for us to do. I actually enjoyed the T-rex exhibit and I don't like dinosaurs. IT was a great experience to watch the ant colony at work. We spent a couple od hours getting frustrated by mind games, only to feel so great once solving them. Outdoors we made discordant music and wrapped ourselves in bubbles. What great adventure awaits us?? I do wish I could go into the 5years old and under room. It looked like great fun. Every child the world over should have a Montshire Museum available to them.

Pretty much guaranteed to find fun for almost any type of kid. With lots of outdoor as well as indoor stuff, works perfectly on a cloudy day. Parents will enjoy the science and the trails not to mention seeing their kids so productively entertained.

I cannot say enough good things about the Montshire. My kids love the hands on activities and walking trails. Best part is the water exhibits outside. We spend the entire day here...open to close. Highly recommended for families with children under age 14.

We have been here twice. Both times we had to pull the kids away. Good for young children. I was a little disappointed this time that they had drastically reduced the bubble section, but otherwise it seemed as popular as ever.

I took the granddaughters ages 6,7 to see how Sue was doing along with the bees, leafcutter ants ,etc. They love to feed the ants! Always a great place to go. They change the exhibits around frequently so everything is fresh and exciting. They love the water park and the trails. A wonderful museum!

The lure of Sue the dinosaur drew us in, and we soon discovered there was much, much more to see besides the remarkable dinosaur. What a beautifully open space, one that feels ideally comfortable for exploring so many interactive exhibits. Our little one started out in Andy's Place, a dedicated space for kids under 5. But there was no need to stay there with so much to see, hear and touch, for all ages. The museum has multiple levels for exploring a handful of exhibits, though is mainly on two floors. It was fun to climb up to the third and fourth floor rooms, as the different levels added a great feeling of flow. Lots of fun was had making fog. The Montshire was designed extremely well, as it is big (bigger than I expected) but perfectly manageable. We stopped at nearby King Arthur Flour for lunch, then returned in the afternoon for outdoor water fun and exploration. The museum's property is so very scenic and tranquil - nice balance for a highly interactive science museum. There's a trail system surrounding the museum that we didn't explore, but looked inviting. As a bonus for our toddler, a freight train passed through tracks on the edge of the property, and the conductor slowed and waved to the kids outside. We loved the Montshire so much we became members. Sue will soon be leaving, and we will most certainly be going back.

We stopped here to break up a 4 hour drive on a hot Saturday afternoon in August. We wanted to see Sue the T-Rex and explore the museum. The boys (5 and 8 years old) loved it, and we only wished we had come prepared for the outdoor water play with bathing suits and towels. We bought sandwiches and ice cream at the big tent outside. It was a little crowded and the fun activities in the corner upstairs were usually packed. Interactive exhibits can keep the kids entertained for hours. I think we all enjoyed it more than the Boston Museum of Science particularly because of the outdoor space. There are also hiking trails and a lookout tower. Highly recommended.

take the kids take the adults everything in here was great and i would go again in a heart beat. This is a great place to understand science at a basic level. We spent two hours here. Warning lots of stairs here!

This is a very nicely done, hands-on museum. So many fun and interesting activities for the kids. My boys are 4 and 6, and they would have stayed here all day if we had had time. It is a little pricey (I think about $60 for my family of 4), but I would pay that again for all it's worth. It was very big in terms of what it had, but it still felt small enough to let my kids wander a bit. We didn't get to utilize the forest trails, but they looked excellent. My kids did, however, play in the water area outside. It's super fun. They loved it. Great idea, and very well done out there.Whether your kids enjoy science or not, this place will make for a very fun day. I highly recommend it.
