This highly rated golf course was built for Richard Nixon to use when he set up a winter White House in Key Biscayne. Unlike other Florida courses, it was created with irregular terrain: it is not pure flat. Every hole has beautiful views. The tees, sand traps, and greens were all in tip top shape. Greens fees are steep and play requires an accompanying fore caddy during busy hours, but after 2 PM the greens fees (which include a cart with sophisticated GPS) fall to a very reasonable level and no caddy is needed.. almost a bargain. Tee times can be reserved by phone. Even without a fore caddy in the afternoon it is easy to find your way around the course. Lots of water... and thick foliage. Bring a lot of balls. There is also a very nice restaurant - where I had the buffet lunch... very inexpensive and really quite good. My plan - lunch and then 18 holes. I teed off in early February at 2:16 and we finished the 18th hole just as the sun was setting. This course is a real gem.

My wife and I really enjoyed the golf course even with rain and wind that day, the staffs was really nice. That have a great golf shop with a good selection. Restaurant the food was delicious and the price was good. My wife had a Tuna salad....wow!!!! what a nice platethe course was in good shape for the time of the year, greens speed was good, the course is fun to play but it is a bite expensive...more than 100$ it should be around 80$. we played it in 3:20 hours, we were alone on the golf course that day....the back nine is nicer and the view on Miami is nice, the wildlife is also really greatThe aware of the racoon on the 16th hole tee off, this guy is fast and knows where to find his lunch. If you are golfing in Miami, this is must on your list....have fun

Good location and very good layout. Very good playing condition of the course too. The golf course is pretty much busy all the time so the rounds can be slow... Definitely worth a try if you are in Miami.

we really enjoyed this wonderful golf course In a very good shape, with a lot of water, with many animals birds, iguanas, racoons and The Crocodile of the 15th ! The views are gorgeous and the flora exotic. The course is varied and the greens are tremendous. It is quiet expensive and a caddy is mandatory but it deserves to be played. Hope to come back !

This course is a gem. It's challenging --and, depending on the wind direction and speed, can be incredibly difficult. The views from the course are some of the best views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami. Recently, they have improved the overall course conditions (which could be spotty at times). I recommend you get an early tee time because once the course fills up with vacationers and average golfers, the rounds become very long.

From the very first tee, this course is challenging all the way through. You have to be smart and cannot try to do more than you can. Play safe and if in doubt, you better play it for bogie or else you will end up with double or more. The service is very good. The caddie we got was very nice but he had no clue as far as giving you distances and reading breaks on the green. We stopped listening to him and the game improved. We had a couple of drinks at the bar afterwards and were treated very well. Good drinks served very friendly.Very good course not far from downtown. I am looking forward to play again sometimes and playing it smarter.

Great as always, maybe a bit expensive for a public course. Good links course. The hotel can help you get tee times and transportation (5 minutes from the Ritz)

Is a pretty tuff course...but is well kept, green fees are absolutely in the average....a place to enjoy...sometimes alligators on the course but is part of the fun !! Enjoy it

Played here yesterday. A beautiful course, with great views. Very tough golf course, but a lot of fun. It is in great condition, the staff is friendly and helpful, the clubhouse is really nice. The price is right. The food is good. I hope to play here often in the future.

I went to Crandon for a round of golf while my wife was at a convention in Miami. It was a busy day and while I was on time, I asked to be deferred to a later tee time just to enjoy being at the course and warm weather, use the short game practice area, etc. I was accommodated without issue and was told I would be playing with a twosome. However, when I arrived at the starter booth I was informed that the twosome was no longer to join me so I was sent off as a single. The course was really fun to play, lots of variety and challenge and it was in very good condition. Crandon reminded me of Torrey Pines - not in layout but as a high-end and high-price municipal course. I also must give honourable mention to my caddie, Dave from Boston. He was very professional and friendly, worked really hard in all aspects of his job and really added value to my day at Crandon. Playing a fine course as a single on a beautiful afternoon with an engaging and helpful caddie - what could be better? To top it off, the pro shop staff gave me an excellent steer to the Rusty Pelican for a solo dinner, the perfect ending to a great day! I hope to have the opportunity to return.

Ranked third hardest public course.Very good conditions and since they have added the Caddie requirement I no longer have a complaint about slow play!!!Not a course that high handicaps will play well, but scenic views from bay holes, North America's Salt Water Lagoons, Salt Water Crocodiles, Iguanas, and more nature makes this course AN EXPERIENCE...Please play fast!!!!

This is a great facility very close to downtown Miami where it is easy to lose yourself in a few hours of peace over 18 holes. It provides a fair challenge, nothing too tricky and the clubhouse and shop are excellent, with very helpful and friendly staff (I turned up and was able to buy or hire everything I needed, having brought nothing over from Scotland). For those who like buggies, these seem to be perfectly good, offering tips and restrictions on when to move forward. Personally, I hate buggies and my only niggle of the day was that I could not enjoy my walk round the course in the traditional fashion, since the buggies are compulsory.
