A great place to escape the noise and crowding of the city. Lots of trees, nice picnic facilities, easy access. The surrounding neighborhood is somewhat modest, be aware of your surroundings but safe enough.

It's alright of a place if you live nearby and have money/the yearly passes, but for somebody goes thinking you could make a day out of it, it's not worth it. It's very run down and a lot of their animals are absent from their cages/areas. I used to go all of the time as a kid, but ever since then the whole zoo has just been run down and mostly empty, it's sad really, and most of the rides in the kid section were closed due to there being not a big crowd that day.If you want to see a lot of animals, ride great thrill rides, and spend almost the whole day up there, go to Busch Gardens. It's a bit more expensive, but worth it!

I love the areas for the animals, its so much better than the cages. The big cats, elephant, giraffe, all seem more relaxed with such a tropical park.. The food court, the bathrooms are well maintained. The exhibit, Zoominations, a chinese lantern festival, covers the 26 acres of the zoo. This is after hours and has a ticket price for seniors $19.95. Their are glowing sculptures: Dragons, Zebras, Pandas, with stands to purchase items.

This old zoo used to have the animals in small cages. But since they have re-done the place, it is so animal friendly and they have wide open environments in which to play and run and even swim. It's also people friendly. Very relaxing and a very good way to spend the day with family and friends.

Lowry Park Zoo is not the biggest zoo in the country, but it is a wonderful zoo. The animals are really varied. My favorite is the giraffe enclosure, where one can feed a giraffe. It is a beautiful park to walk through. The eating area is typical park food, but the whole experience is a lot of fun.

A good place to take the kids for a couple hours. Certainly not to be confused with larger zoos, but a great place for an afternoon getaway with young children.

We like the Lowry Park Zoo. It is small. Great for small children or a place you can walk around for a couple of hours just to be outside. IThey have a carousel and other small rides for the children. The enclosures for the animals are small so you see the animals without great difficulty. I'm sure the animals aren't happy with the small enclosures. It improves every year for the better.

I think the busiest it ever is has to be during school visits. Probably the only reason it's still open. If you've seen one zoo, you've seen them all. It's ok once or twice but not season pass worthy.

An all-day, great experience. Free parking, lots to do and many different animals. Several small amusement park rides for kids as well.

Another family friendly park. Everyone had an enjoyable time. Enough attractions to keep you busy for the entire day. Even older family members will enjoy their time spent here.

3 year old and spouse loved it - manatees and feeding giraffe were highlights - on a drizzly day, crowds were down which allowed us to go through park in only a few hours.

I've lived in Tampa for 10 years and I'm ashamed to say that I had never been to this park before. My wife and kids went there for school outings but since I don't like zoos I never wanted to go; silly me !!I was supposed to meet a friend on a sunny Sunday morning and he was still asleep, so I decided to drive around a bit and "ended" up at this park thinking it would be a nice place to sit for a while. I parked my car, it was very deserted since it was still early and started walking and discovering this fantastic place. Clean, well kept, BBQ and huts well distributed are a plus but being in the middle of the city and walking along the river and having the impression to be out in the woods was a wonderful feeling. The day was gorgeous, the grass green, a few people walking or fishing or prepping for the family function to come and not to forget the squirrels that come right at you asking for food... I'm sure kids love that. After over an hour of strolling around and taking it all in, I realized that the city had done something really great for the people (especially the ones with limited means): giving them the opportunity to out in nature without having to drive many miles.

We went to this park for the first time in November and what a great place to take the kids and have a picnic or cookout! Very clean and manicured. Love that you can walk by the river and enjoy the scenery. The playground was great and a hit with the kids. Nice quiet area and park was bigger than I expected. Bathrooms and areas very clean. Definitely we'll be coming back!

The thing I like most is that I have been going to Lowry Park for over 40 years and they continue to update and improve every year. There are rides, food and best of all they take exceptionally good care of the animals. The habitats for the animals, no matter which ones you see are all very clean and well kept.

This zoo has an amazing variety of world critters! It also is very well established botanically.. a lot of theme park kind of stuff for young children thus there is much yelling and screaming from kids everywhere.. an unfortunate part of most zoos. This is a great zoo for people to see interesting animals I personally wish zoos did more to help instill respect for animals rather than have the animals more as a side show.. I think Lowry Park has some of both. On the bad side, much of the zoos structure needs attention.. and it is very poorly marked with signs. Finding your way around can be difficult and the map is rather poor. But.. I will go back whenever in Tampa!
