The Colonial Quarter is an area devoted to showing what it might have been like to live in St. Augustine throughout various times in its history. It is very well done, and we really enjoyed it. Our guide was Laporta, and she was very informative, and most enjoyable.

There are tours every 30 minutes and the first one is at 10:30 am. Don't miss the tour. The tour guide is so excited about history and the fact that they love their job comes out in what they do. If you ask a question they give you tons of detail. If you didn't go on the tour there wouldn't be enough to see and read about on your own, but the tour makes it worth it. We got to see some great blacksmith demonstrations. I never knew that it the old days they used bees wax to prevent rusting of iron. I've been to so many of these I thought I knew most of it already.

Our tour guide - Grimm- was amazing! He was in character, funny, and extremely knowledgeable! We learned a ton about the history and laughed the whole time. Definitely children friendly and something we would recommend to any tourist. We got wristbands that got us discounts on food and drinks at both of their establishments. Totally fun!

The information provided by the tour guide was very informative. She was able to answer all of our questions. We ate at the Pub and received a discount with the tour. Into history? Take the tour.

Our tour guides name was "Grim". He was super informative and did a great job of bringing the element of humor into all the historical aspects. He seemed to have an amazing grasp on everything involved and genuinely loved what he was doing. You could not have found a better tour guide. After his tour, they allow you to walk around and enjoy everything there. My whole family [kids ages 10,16,17, &19] along with my wife and i had a great time at the Colonial Quarter.

Hard to rate, this is where you will find some unique shopping (not all the Chinese junk found in many stores around the country now), some antiques, some good to really great restaurants - bars- and entertainment spots. Every visit to St. Augustine since late 1960's (couple dozen), ended here at least once or twice on each and every visit. Last decade or so, staying in local Bed n Breakfast locations and walking to the majority of sites I've reviewed (( be sure to check out "Peace and Plenty Inn on Cedar Street : a fantastic place to stay, a close walk to St. Augustine Distillery and the San Sebastian Winery <accidental location, not main reason we stay here> where the owner, Glenna, provides nice rooms with complimentary breakfast <fantastic> , and evening wine <VG> and bakery items <excellent> - Google her place. davzway promises you won't be disappointed ) Have spent countless hours walking the Colonial Quarter (in St. Augustine on dozens of trips from a day ride on a bike to week long stays at Bed n Breakfast lodgings), stopping at the Colonial Quarter at least once and often daily, and have always looked forward to my next return visit.

I read some bad reviews of this place, but due to the fantastic interpreter, Mr. Grimm, kids and adults learned so much about the turbulent times of the 15th, 16, and 17th centuries in St. Augustine. Though there isn't as much to see as other places of history we have been to, his performance was very well done. Don't bother if you don't stay for an interpreter to do the presentation. His was great.

It is very interesting to see hundreds of years compacted into a short period of time, when that is combined with a tour guide that has content and a passion to deliver it, the experience becomes awesome. She did provide her name but I cant recall it. That's a shame because she really deserves the credit for what she delivers. She also made a great subject to photograph. I tried to capture some of her passion in the photos as well as some of the interesting exhibits that we enjoyed.

If you couldn't find what were looking for here I would be amazed. Wonderful little shops, most very unique. Good good and live entertainment. Time well spent.

This was quite interesting and well done. Many of the buildings are built right over the original buildings. 1st they excavated for artifacts from the 16-18th century. Guided tours take about 45 minutes and worth your time. The cost is around $13 and again another overpriced place in St. Augustine. If you have the funds this may be something you'd like to see.

I saw this attraction online and decided to give it a whirl and pre-booked my tickets online. Wow! So glad I did! From the moment we walked in, the lady that we picked up the tickets from, U4ria (yes, she spells it with a '4'), made us feel completely welcomed and at home. She made my 2 kids (ages 9 and 13) excited about the tour and invited us to try one of the two restaurants that are on site, explaining that we would get 10% off of our check if we chose to eat there. We entered the compound and were shortly met by our guide, 'Grimm'. He wore colonial garb and totally transported us back in time to the 16th Century elaborating on the life and times of people of that era. After explaining the ship building, that was a current work in progress, he lead us to an exact replica (albeit on a smaller scale) of a blacksmith Shop. Firing up the kiln and fanning the flames with bellows, he really gave us an idea what it would be like to work for 10+ hours a day forging iron for tools and weapons. We visited an armory where he demonstrated the proper procedure for firing a musket, describing what the townspeople were expected to do during a siege. After climbing the watchtower and seeing the town gathering place, and having an express lesson on the different flags that have flown over the town, we were free to roam the grounds looking at two living quarters and a print shop.We became hungry at this point, as during the tour, the kids played a scavenger hunt where clues were given at each point. We choose to eat at the Taberna Del Caballo. We ordered various tapas (small plates) and were not disappointed! The food was great and the sangria was refreshing after all the walking we did.Later in the day, we actually stopped for 'refreshments' at the other restaurant onsite, the Bull and Crown Publick House. Great pints and I actually got my son to try an Apple Cider...he LOVED IT!!Would DEFINATELY recommend this tour and both restaurants to anyone that wants to immerse themselves in the history of this wonderful city!

Our family of 6 visited Sat Feb 28 and had a great experience! History was turned in to a fun learning environment with hands on interaction! Best of all was our tour guide, George! He made our visit memorable!!!

This is right in the center of town, easy to get to, the trolley tour also stops here. The tour guide knows all the history of the area and there are a lot of artifacts to look at. The cost is very reasonable.

This is interesting and educational but probably more suited for kids from 8 to 18. Maybe it was a bad day for them as it fell a little flat for us.

Living in St Augustine and still sight seeing. Thursday past we visited Colonial Quarters on St George St. It was very interesting, full of history, and our tour guide, Grimm, did a wonderful job. He was not only full of info but added a little humor. It made the tour more fun.
