My husband and I bought a home in Wilton Manors about 2 years ago and have been trying to support the local businesses ever since. We're not here full time yet, but have managed to get a feel for the local food and entertainment. My favorite reason for going to Georgie's Alibi is Dame Edna on Monday nights in the Manchester room. Michael Walters is not only a phenomenal improviser, but his voice is stellar. The range and quality of his voice will astound you. My degrees in theatre make me picky about what I'll spend my time seeing, and I would choose to see and hear him and laugh with him every Monday if I could. Every show is different because Dame Edna responds so quickly and cleverly to everyone in the room. If you have a sense of humor and can laugh at yourself, you'll have a wonderful time. Another reviewer mentioned being disappointed that he didn't stay in the Edna voice the entire 3 1/2 hours that the show lasts.(By the way, you can come and go for shorter periods, but I always end up staying the entire time.) I think that the variety in both voices, impersonations, vocal qualities and types of quips and stories keeps one from being bored. This is a person whose impersonation of Jackie Gleason is so good that he's been hired to perform it on Broadway. In my "not so humble" opinion, you don't hoble a talent this big by making him stick to one voice or one format. Simply enjoy the magic that happens every moment. He'll make you laugh until you hurt, or occasionally shed a nostalgic tear.

Who would have guessed Dame Edna could out sing the great Merman. She has all the sharp wit of the original, but what a voice! Her version of Rose's turn brought down the house. A must see on Monday nights at the Alibi.

Sir. I'm terribly sorry you were disappointed with the performance you attended. This is a cabaret show- not my fully staged Dame Edna show. In this show, I sing for 2.5 hours without benefit of an intermission. No one, not even the most ardent Dame Edna fan, wants to hear someone singing in Edna's voice for that long. One of the reasons Barry Humphries enjoys my performances is because what I do is not a complete duplication of his creation. This cabaret show has been running to packed houses each and every Monday for nearly 6 years. Had you bothered to stay for more than one drink, you might have been far less disappointed. It's more than a little disappointing to think someone could write a review like this when they didn't give the performer the courtesy of seeing the entire performance..

one of the best deals in town is the free show at alibi when dame edna is in town! she really sings, no lip syncing. and she is smart, sharp and very funny. i am always impressed with her performances. and for $0 this is the best ticket in town. of course it is nice if you place some $ into her tip jar...but there is rarely any pressure to do so.

We had heard about this show but never took the time to check it out! You just have to experience Dame Edna to fully appreciate the talent and humor that is shared each week. This show is not for the bashful or sensitive souls. She absolutely strives to "lovingly" offend everyone in the crowd. She has a great voice. You will be entertained for sure!

If you're in Wilton Manors and want an evening of songs and jaw-dropping commentary, go see the Dame. Her off-the-wall jokes will keep you laughing and her voice is excellent; I especially like her unique rendition of Hello Dolly, although for others it's her version of Old Man River. I've been in the Manchester Room at the Alibi to see her many times and she never fails to entertain and shock while involving the audience. Like the other "ladies" who entertain at the Alibi, her show is free, so please, tip, tip and tip again for an entertainer who clearly loves Broadway and often delivers songs you won't hear elsewhere.

I have seen the version of Dame Edna for S. Florida, several times. The show is always different, and the one thing about the act is that unlike most drag shows, who mouth the words of the songs, Dame Edna actually sings the songs with the entertainer's own voice, which is excellent. So the show is authentic as to the material and sync with the music -- and Dame Edna puts her own personal touch on the material, making it one of the best club acts in S. Florida.

I have been going to Ft Lauderdale for four years, staying about 6 weeks, and my highlight is going to the dame Edna Show at the Alibi.I love the show, and particularly get off on watching her put down some jerk that keeps talking as the show is going on. It seems you can't keep the idiots out, few as they are.Sorry that she has not been booked in Provincetown, as far as I know, that would be a reason to go to P-town when she was appearing. They miss a good shot at filling up the shows there, not booking the Dame.

Located in a gay bar show room, The Manchester Room at Georgie's Alibi, this show is not for the timid, but you ARE in Wilton Manors, so go with the flow and let Dame Edna entertain you. It is hard to believe this show is free, so bring money to tip generously, because this is one talent you have to experience for yourself. Even the real Barry Humphries liked her so much he allows the use of his "Dame Edna" persona. I have seen Michael Walters as Dame Edna many times, and each time is different, and always entertaining. The Dame pokes fun at herself, everyone, and everything, and like her sign says, "If I have offened you, good, tell your friends!" However what sets Dame Edna apart is the voice. The cleberty voice impersonations are astonishing, and the ease of switching back and forth in one song between Carol Channing, Pearl Bailey, Louis Armstrong, and Ether Merman wil absolutely blow you away! The highlight for me is when Michael sings "Old Man River" you will swear you are on Broadway watching Porgy and Bess. The show is on Monday nights at 8 PM. You owe it to yourself to see this show!

My partner and I are local to Wilton Manors, and we have yet to be able to find the time to stay at your lovely resort. However, we attended the Dame Edna show there on April 14, and we had the time of our lives! The food was very nice, but the show was the reason we will keep coming back! She didn't miss a trick, zinging the audience and having a marvelous time with whatever was thrown her way. What a voice! Between the comedy bits, she'd rattle the walls with a voice you'd only hear on Broadway. It's pleasant to see a show that is not lip-synched and is totally spontaneous! We will be back to see her soon!Bob Frechette,Wilton Manors Florida

Dame Edna realmente canta as músicas com sua a própria voz, que é excelente. Por isso, o show é autêntica como ao material e sincronização com a música...É Muito divertido vale a pena conferir!!!
