Just north of downtown and across from the Stetson University campus, First Presbyterian Church is home to a lively and spirited congregation. Three Sunday services -- an intimate small gathering in the Chapel, a larger contemporary one in Fellowship Hall and one with a traditional liturgy in the sanctuary -- bring together an active parish with a deep spiritual commitment. It is a welcoming church with members searching out visitors in their midst for a conversation. In accord with Presbyterian tradition, the preaching is excellent and the music engaging. An impressive Christian education program, particularly for adults, fills out the Sunday schedule but also extends throughout the week. The sanctuary is beautiful in its simplicity of design.
