We went to Shenandoah for a sleigh ride. Everything about this ride was great. David and Alysa were terrific (David, what are you waiting for??) Highly recommend this facility.

We visited Shenandoah on a chilly but snowless day in December for a beginner trail ride. The friendly staff got us outfitted with helmets and horses, and even lent me a hat, because I had forgotten mine. Our guide, Mary, provided instructions in a friendly way that was very helpful, especially for my 10 year old daughter, who is a novice rider. We are looking forward to coming back for an intermediate ride!

I treated my granddaughters (ages 14 & 12) to a trail ride on a chilly fall afternoon. I called to make reservations before we went. They wore heavy jeans and bundled up with scarfs, hats and gloves. They fitted them with riding helmets and we walked outside for the girls to saddle up. The young woman who led them was very nice and talked to them on the ride. Since all the girls had had riding lessons previously she trotted through parts of the trail and the girls were thrilled. Afterwards they were invited into the heated welcome room and had hot apple cider and watched a cute horse cartoon on a big screen television that's there. Very fun experience for big kids and adults.

I go here every year. I can see the changes that the new management made and I love them. Mary was awesome. I went on two rides back to back. Winston was a dream to ride. She even let me canter!!! I will be back next year!!

My wife and I were looking for a way to celebrate her 50th birthday and wanted to do something she had never done. The Shenandoah Riding Center was a great choice for us. We were fortunate that we were the only two on the ride and it was a beautiful fall day. David, our guide was outstanding!! He and the girls at the stable were great in making sure we were informed and comfortable before we left and once we were out on the trail, he did a great job making sure all was well. We had a great time and look forward to going back and taking a group of friends with us.

Hi Debra,We are very sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience at the Shenandoah Riding Center. It is very unusual for Otis to have acted that way and we would never blame a horse's misbehavior on a customer but rather on the fact that they are in fact animals and like people sometimes have bad days or are unpredictable. Otis is usually one of our best trail horses and is used for small children more often than not. Again we apologize if you felt that Mary, your guide wasn't responding with concern quickly enough as that would never be her or any of our guides intention. She didn't get back on Otis in the driveway as she thought his behavior was making you guys uncomfortable. Our main goal here is for everyone to have a safe and fun time at any activity you are participating in. We hope you will come back and give us a chance to take you on another ride that you actually enjoy. Have a great day!CoreyOwnerThe Shenandoah Riding Center

My DH and I really enjoyed our beginner's trail ride at Shenandoah! Everyone was very friendly from the lady in the office to the trail guides! The names of our horses were Cinnamon and Tonto and they were great during the ride. The area we rode through was beautiful with the fall colors all around us! I would definitely recommend Shenandoah to others!

This was my first time riding and I was looking forward to the experience very much. My friends and I signed up for the Beginner Trail Ride. Our group size was about 15. They loaded everyone up on a horse. Now being a beginner trail ride, you would think that they would give you instruction. Basically all they said was pull on the reins to stop and I had to ask that. Many of the horses seem to have a mind of their own and were wandering around which is kind of frightening if you've never been on one. The trail itself was nice. There was someone at the front and someone at the back. Midway through my horse (Tonto was his name) decided to check out the plant selection and eat; when I tried to steer him forward, all of a sudden he took off riding in another direction and my saddle began to slide to the side. My foot was stuck and I tried to get out of the saddle but couldn't. Thankfully he stopped to check the plants out but I was scared out of my life. It took a while for the instructors to see that something was wrong. They told me to get off. Well, I would've if my foot wasn't stuck. I was told that he was too big for a saddle and that's why it might have slipped to the side of him. They told me I should've scooted the other way to keep the saddle from sliding. Well, I was a first timer, how was I supposed to know and if Tonto is too big for a saddle why in the world are you letting beginners ride him! He seemed to have a stubborn personality which is NOT good for a first time rider. One of the instructors let me ride her horse back. I was really looking forward to riding but unfortunately this experience has scarred me. The facility really should take better care of first time riders. I caution all who have never ridden to save riding for a different place that has calmer horses and more individualized attention.

This was really fun. A great way to spend a morning. I had never ridden a horse before and their intermediate ride was no problem.

After many years not riding, we, an 88-year-old and 79-year-old, decided to try it again. From Corey's and Mary's orientations, to David and Rick's helping us to mount Oakley and Duke, and to David's guidance on the ride, we had a wonderful experience at Shenandoah Riding Center. The staff was so kind and thoughtful. We hope to return in the fall. Rosa R. and Yvonne F.

Although I myself am not a beginning rider, I often bring friends and family to Shenandoah Riding Center to ride. I am always more than comfortable with the horses we have ridden. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful. The scenery is beautiful and always changing. There are many trails to ride so even if you ride more than once it is different scenery. Love to ride here!!!

Great beginner ride for mix of adults and kids. Most of us had never riden but our guides explained everything and ensured all went well on the ride through the trails. Our kids ranged from 12-19 and they all enjoyed the experience. Would highly recommend it!
