Anywhere you can go and just be able to stretch, walk, eats or drinks and just plain have fun, this is good here.

We brought our kids here on occasion to cook-out and hike. There are always people out there enjoying nature. My son even had his senior pictures taken there years ago.

This park has ample parking, plenty of picnic areas, a large playground for children, Frisbee golf, a baseball diamond and a variety of walking trails. The park also provides beautiful views of the Rock River. You may see the pelicans that have made nests near the Rock River during the summer as well as Bald Eagles during the fall and winter months. The park also overlooks the Union Pacific rail line. For train buffs you can get excellent shots of the trains from a high vantage point with your camera. There are plenty of places to go fishing in the park.During the winter months there are a number of hills perfect for sledding. For history buffs, the Sinnissippi Mounds can be found at the park which date back 2,000 years and is listed on the the National Register of Historic Places.

There is a great little bridge in the back of the park that leads to a big circle trail. If you don't want to go for a big walk that is ok just take a right and walk along the little stream to the river. You will see so many lilly pads and flowers(if you are there the right time of the year) all at eye level. I think it is a magical spot. Also don't miss the indian mounds. Kind of cool thinking they are here in Sterling IL
