I grew up in Oak Park and was visiting from out of town. I was looking for some hip and fun nostalgia from Oak Park. They had a great selection of the Frank Lloyd Wright jewelry which is what I was looking for - and they were on sale, too!! They had a nice selection of merchandise, staff was friendly and it was great that they had a restroom! Ha! I would definitely recommend stopping in - especially if you need any tourist information!!

This was actually the last place I went to before I left Oak Park, so it wasnt helpful to me. The people there though seemed very helpful and had information of all the attractions and lots of brochures for nearby places. Also the gift shop is really neat, lots of Frank Lloyd Wright glass and lamps. Since it is a visitor center and located downtown, this should probably be your first stop.

They were very helpful here. Directed us to some great restaurants. Told us which sites were a must see. Have tons of brochures on hand for all of the area attractions and shopping.

Great for those interested in architecture and heritage. Book before you go to ensure a place on a tour. No self guided tours in the house.

A laid back atmosphere in this well stocked shop. Nice friendly staff. You can buy gifts and souvenirs here too. Lots of Frank Lloyd Wright stuff amid the usual kniknaks. Some very expensive items of artwork, etc.

Got some good info about Oak Park and where to find the Frank Lloyd Wright homes (not just his home and studio) in the surrounding neighborhood. They also have a few items for sale. Worth it to stop in.

A funny and at the same time most informative lady helped us at the Visitors Canter. We got the info we needed and after browsing in the shop made a few good purchases, Frank Lloyd Wright related, of course. The town is a pure delight, as is the home of FLW. We went by metro from downtown Chicago. Works really well!

While crossing the street to go to the Visitors Center, my husband tripped on a cobblestone and injured his arm. We went in to the Center and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They assisted us in temporarily bandaging his arm and gave us clear directions to the nearest Urgent Care center. Great staff at the VC and great people in Oak Park; several people had stopped to help on the sidewalk where he fell. Those darn cobblestones! Tricky terrain when one is missing!

I was quite surprised the sweatshirt price of the one I selected was over $40; when the ones at the Oasis are only $29. I am hoping that the extra cost is used for a good cause! Many nice gift items.

Nice gift shop for FLW fans, plus it contained other gifts related to Chicago in general. Staff very helpful and made recommendations for lunch etc. Nice jewelry for sale too!

If you want some Oak Park souvenirs, this is the place. They have a great selection of tee shirts, ceramics, mission style lamps, etc, etc. I love browsing here even though I lived in Oak Park until very recently. Nothing like being a tourist in your own city! Maps and brouchures are free and the volunteer staff can be very helpful.

We found out there was a french festival on Marion Street and saw can can dancers that evening, and had a lovely thai meal. They have lots of information with lovely souvenirs.

The photo shows the previous location. 1010 Lake Street IS the correct address. The Visitor Center, staffed by knowledgable volunteers, has information on Oak Park attractions such as the Wright Home and Studio, Pleasant Home, and the Oak Park Conservatory. As first glance, however, it looks like a shop, and it is a very good one, stocking high quality items, many created by local artists, and keeping touristy trinkets to a minimum.

... before you plan your sight-seeing!I was greeted the moment I walked in the door and from there, I was made to feel right at home. There's plenty of souvenirs [both Oak Park and Chicago] and I liked that they incorporated local artists into the selections as well as Frank Lloyd Wright and Earnest Hemingway.I didn't even have to ask for a map -- but they were ready to offer advice and directions for walking to any destination in the area. Believe me, you'll want to stop in here first because there's PLENTY to see in Oak Park! They even have bike rental and this is a VERY bike-friendly area!!You won't regret your visit no matter how brief...
