The Hearland Spa is closing, so a detailed review is rather pointless. I must, however, rave about the chef. He was personable, charming, and (most importantly, talented. He created the best spa food I've ever eaten. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner--- all works of art and so delicious. If you haven't enjoyed his cuisine, you have only a few weeks before the spa closes, so get there.

Staying at the Heartland was the best decision I ever made and worth every penny I spent. The staff there are a terrific group of people. The food was excellent. By the time I left I had been healed mind , body & spirit. Everyone could benefit from time there.

Truly incredible! I just returned from a reunion at the Heartland with three of my best friends from childhood. The grounds are beautiful, if you appreciate gardens, woods, and the intense green of the Midwest as much as I do. I thoroughly enjoyed both of my spa treatments and loved paddle boating, biking, walking, running, and taking fitness classes there. The chef does an amazing job of preparing healthy and delicious meals, and he was so accommodating and sweet about catering to my vegan diet and the lactose-free diet of one of my friends. The thing that truly sets this place apart is the staff. Every one of the staff is motivated to help you relax, enjoy, and learn more about wellness, and the customer service there was something I have never experienced anywhere else. When it was time for me to leave to catch my flight home to Colorado, my friend's car wouldn't start. The staff (and a super nice guest) helped us try to jump start her car. When it didn't work, they offered to drive me to the airport -- a 2 hour drive (one way)! I'm still in shock that they were sweet enough to do that and that they got me to the airport in time! Meanwhile, they took care of my friend and were able to get her back on the road, first imploring her to call them when she got home to let them know she made it O.K. If you're looking for a luxe spa with stuffy staff, this is not the place, but if you want to go somewhere to thoroughly relax and recharge with people who truly care about taking care of you, this is definitely it!

My daughter & I just got back from an amazing week @ the spa. We chose a week of fitness - with some pampering of course! The food was delicious, the spa treatments were soothing and the fitness classes were geared to everyone's ability. While we were there the new furniture for the Wood Room and the White Room were delivered. Beautiful leather chairs & couches that made relaxing, visiting with new friends or reading a treat. Did I mention the friendly, caring & accommodating staff? Everyone at the spa wants to be sure you have a wonderful visit. The location is calming and beautiful. The bedrooms are a little rustic but who cares when you can find comfy spots for relaxing, visiting or quiet time throughout the grounds and manor house. Try it, you'll like it.

My wife and I recently kick-started our 2014 fitness goals (lose weight and get in better shape) with a four night stay at The Heartland. We found it to have both the benefits of a fitness retreat with multiple aerobic and anaerobic (stretching, bosu ball etc.) classes available as well as classes/lectures on nutrition etc.. One of the attractions was that all of the meals are prepared by their chef on site from fresh ingredients and no added sugar - and they were, in a word, delicious! The staff at The Heartlands was friendly and low-key - no hard sell for spa services or extras, just a desire that their guests relax and enjoy their stay. This is a great place for folks to go to get away from work/family/stress for a weekend or a week while eating healthy and exercising as much as you want (or being pampered with a full suite of spa services like massages, manicure/pedicures, facials etc.). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

My boyfriend treated my mom, sister and myself to the "Day of Pampering" package. When setting up the appointments the receptionist failed to mention that we would be separated during our treatments! My sister and I started off with a 2 hour manicure/pedicure. Meanwhile, my mother's first service didn't take place for an hour and fifteen minutes from when we arrived. Worst, worst worst manicure/pedicure I have ever had. My girl was extremely fast and did a horrible job! The nail polish was wavy, sloppy, inconsistent and chipped off 2 days later. She was not very personable and left after each step. My sister had nail polish all over the sides of her fingers! The sea-salt scrub was just ok. I do not have anything to compare it with, but my mother does. She reported that this was nothing like she has had in the past. Previous sea-salt scrubs consisted of massaging of the salts. Where as this one was getting basted with oil, and salt and a quick rub. The only reason I am giving this a poor instead of a terrible is due to the massage! The masseuse (Susan) was very knowledgeable and made a noticeable difference with the pain in my back. She also took her time, and in fact went over the allotted time, showing me stretches to do at home to help with the daily grind of my job.
