This is a loop trail around the city of Fairfield, Iowa. I biked the majority of this trail recently. It took me about 2 hours, but that included some backtracking due to poor signage in the southeast portion of the trail. Although Maasdam Barns is the official starting point of the trail, I started it near Pleasant Lake and headed west from there, due to the wind direction. I like to go against the wind direction at the beginning of my ride when my energy is the highest and finish up with a tailwind. The trail goes through 9 segments, which I will not list, but you can check out at: http://www.jeffersoncountytrails.org/trails.htmThe segment from Lamson Woods NE is poorly demarcated. I ended up a little lost and made my own way back to Pleasant Plain Road after meandering around downtown Fairfield for a while. So be advised. If you have an app which gives you turn by turn navigation while you're on the trail, please use it. There is also a segment currently (as of July 2014) closed near the Maasdam Barns section due to construction at a bank. This is easily bypassed (as I did) by going around said bank. Some parts of the trail are hilly for the occasional biker such as myself. However, most of it is relatively level. There are restrooms and rest stops along the trail at multiple points. You get to ride through a socio-economic cross-section of Fairfield during your ride. You will see million dollar homes, apartments, condos, lakes, etc. Give it a good 2 hours by bike going about 10 mph.
