Easy .5 mi walk in and back in makes it a 1 mi walk. Flat, well maintained. Costs only the $5 parking pass which you may already have from other area locations (can purchase at visitor center on site). We had a rough time finding it - the Trip Advisor address took us to the wrong place but googling V Bar V took us to the correct place. Once there it was a piece of cake and so worth it! The workers are friendly and knowledgeable. The site is so special, just incredible.

This is definitely a must see! So easy to get to -- Take exit 298 off of I-17, go about 2 miles, and turn right at the V-V sign. There's an approximate 1-mile hike, over level pathway. Your short walk will rewarded by being able to stand a couple feet away from over 1,000 ancient carvings. It's amazing! Highly recommend if you're in Sedona, or want to stretch your legs on the drive to/from Flagstaff. Ranger and docent on site who will answer questions, and help interpret the symbols. Bring your camera! (Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday 9:30AM-3:30PM. You'll need a Red Rock Pass for your vehicle, which can be purchased for $5 at V-Bar-V.) Love this!

Well worth the visit and drive off the beaten track. As people arrived at the site at different times it was hard for the volunteer there to provide all information to every one as often people would arrive after he had started. We have young kids with us and they did not want to listen to the whole talk any way so it was fine with us. We got a chance to see the petroglyphs up close when the guide took the group to other sections to discuss. Format worked well for us. Walk to site not too long with beautiful scenery and landscape. Great place to visit on the way to or from Sedona.

This is a very worthwhile site to learn about the natives of the area. The petroglyphs are are very clear and the guide very knowledgeable.

Our first mistake was trying to go on a Thursday since other reviewers posted going on that day. We encountered the dirt road being graded and locked gates. Fortunately we were able to return on our way out of town the next day, but had to go in the morning. The road is partly dirt, but well maintained and the way is well marked with good signage. There is a fee of $5 if you don't have a pass. The site is wheelchair accessible and easily walkable over pretty flat ground until you get to the petroglyphs. You can still get a wheelchair near the site with assistance, but maybe not too close depending on the chair, etc. There is a small gift shop/information center with a bathroom available. Just before you get to the site is a day use picnic area where you can grill food and enjoy a picnic at a table next to a small creek and it has very clean pit toilets. On to V Bar V. This place is really special. I have never seen so many petroglyphs in one place. It is truly astounding. The history of this place is awesome. Even better are the volunteers. They not only love the place, but constantly update their research and share everything they know with each other and the visitors. They also know a lot about other ruins in the area and can advise and inform about them as well. I say to go in the afternoon because while the pictographs that are painted on rocks are easy to see in any daylight conditions, the petroglyphs carved on the rocks are more visible when the afternoon light actually falls on them presenting shadows. We spent about 1.5 hours walking around and talking to the volunteers, but you can really make this trip as long or short as you like.

If you enjoy viewing Native American sites, this a good one in terms of the petroglyphs. The guide was extremely informative and shared his information well. One walks to the site through a pretty open area and at the end are the petroglyphs and that is all. But, there are more than enough to enjoy. One might spend 45 mins to an hour at the site.

Jake was very knowledgable about the petroglyphs. A short, easy walk. A piece of our history that is mysterious and enlightening.

V bar v ranch has a large preserved area of petroglyphs . Rangers are very knowledgable about the site and are enthusiast about sharing archeologists findings, thoughts on what the site meant to early indigenous people, ect. Very interesting in learning about what each figurine possible meant, with insites from local Hopi Indians . The volunteer ranger definitely has some reverence for the site and seems honored to preserve the site and educate all visitors. Open to questions and has booklets to peruse at the site. It was a short level walk to the site ,passing a large grove of enormous Arizona sycamore trees. Peaceful, big sky and great sunshine. Worth the stop.

This is one of the easier sites to get to, just a short drive off of 179. The parking lot is a good size with restroom facilities close by. The walk from the parking lot to the site is well maintained and flat. There are hundreds of petroglyphs that you can get close to. This is a good site to visit.

We never miss this site when we have company visiting. Everyone is blown away by the amount of petroglyphs and the knowledge of the docents. It's an easy 1/2 mile flat walk to the site; check in first at the gift shop. There are clean restrooms and a scenic picnic area nearby on Oak Creek.

The ranger here was very informative and kept our interest as he told us the stories behind the petroglyphs as well as many local tales. The site is easy to get to from Sedona and there is no charge. Donations are accepted. You will need to have a park pass. The access to the site is flat and an easy short walk. Wheelchairs would be OK.The petroglyphs are very interesting and easy to see.We enjoyed it as a break from hiking. We took a day off and went to the V Bar V Site, had a picnic lunch and took in some galleries. The Village Gallery in Oak Creek is very nice and has many local craftspeople represented.

Easy to get to, and well worth it. The docent, Don, was incredibly knowledgeable, and we could have listened to him all day.

Well worth a visit to see these preserved and protected petroglyphs that are truly a national treasure. The docent presentation was outstanding. Buy the Guide to the Heritage Sites sold by the US Forest service for details about V Bar V, Palatki and Honanki sites.

A heritage site with a great collection of petroglyphs. The rangers are very pleasant people and gave a wonderful explanation of how the drawings indicate the solstices.
