What a surprise to find such an architectural gem filled with De Grazia's work. I'm not sure how often the art changes, but there was a large variety of his work and lots of information on his career. A lovely yard too.

This was a fun discovery and the price is good, read FREE. The garden is both colorful and quirky - nice flowers and creative use of antique "junk". DeGrazia's style is somewhat similar to Marc Chagall's - colorful and minimalistic. The gallery rooms are organized according to specific themes - Father Kino, angels, Easter, etc., some of which are more appealing than others. A few minutes stroll to the DeGrazia designed mission in the back of the gallery is worthwhile.

Ok, so we went to the DeGrazia gallery and we should have read more about it (like the hours it was open - it closed at 4 the day we went - we got there about 5 to 4). Oh well. Easy enough to find off of a main road and plenty of parking. Nice and quiet area.Although we didn't see the gallery, they have an artist in residence in the studio that DeGrazia used (I think they are in residence for 2 weeks - maybe 4?) and that was very cool - ended up with a nice painted tile. Additionally, we got to go into the little church. All in all a very nice visit. The place has a great vibe - we spent a little over an hour there. We will have to come back to check out DeGrazia's gallery.

As you can see from my rating, I didn't find this interesting at all. I would hesitate to call this art. Check it out online first to see if it would appeal to you.

I am ashamed to say I had no knowledge of this artist but went because it was in the guides. We absolutely adored it. Really characterful, evocative pictures in beautiful adobe gardens and a lovely garden courtyard. now know that this is the artist whose work was used on the famous unicef card a few years ago where a ring of children hold hands. Magical.

Interesting gallery showing many works from this local artist. Some sculptures on the grounds and inside as well.

SW art never has been my favorite, but this gallery was amazing. We spent an entire morning going through the buildings, looking at the art. The short video tells about much of Da Grassa's life, and gives lots of helpful information. The audio of the Stations of the Cross gives an in depth description of the paintings in this area, and I certainly had a greater appreciation by listening to it. His grave, the chapel, his home, are other buildings on the ground that you can walk through. The grounds are beautiful. I can't say enough positive about this gallery. Highly recommended. Another plus--no charge and easy parking. No reason not to visit!

So glad we found this interesting art gallery. DeDrazia was a prolific artist & spiritual/religious person.

Last August I had to get some donations for a convention I was doing. I happened upon this wonderful gallery. They were very kind and gave me a $75 plate and a tone of brochures. As I looked around I found a wonderful picture of a little girl on a horse, and ended going back to purchase the print. It is set up in the old home of the artist, and the house is as interesting as the art. If you are into De Graia work, you'll love this gallery. If not, go anyway and you'll be converted.

Located in the Foothills on Swam Rd, 15 -20 min from most anywhere in Tucson. Th main gallery has lots of early works plus there is a changing show, check the web site. Should you so desire you may purchase art works in the gift shop. Enjoy your visit even more by strolling the grounds, stopping to visit the Chapel.

I'm not a huge Di Grazia fan but I went to the gallery because someone recommended it and I'm very glad I did. It's wonderful. There are several buildings and all of the southwestern architecture is great to see. Neat beams, stone floors, heavy doors - really interesting. Oh, and the Catalinas are looming right above the yard and buildings so be sure to go when you have time to wander around a bit to enjoy that scenery. His art is much more diverse than I expected, and the media he used is also fairly extensive. I realized I didn't know much about him at all. They have an ongoing video set off in one room that helps illustrate his life and work. Really a lovely place to visit. The only warning I offer is that the floors are uneven in the outbuildings and there are some fairly tricky spots in the main gallery - these might make it difficult for some folks to access.

What a wonderful morning visiting this charming museum oasis. I was so taken by the cactus flower floor in the studio. It is layed out so beautifully and the art is so impressive. I knew nothing about Ted DeGrazia and it was so informative and enjoyable to get to know who he was through his art and studio surroundings. There was a wonderful artist in residence in the out building. Take a peek!

Almost everyone it seems, who lives in Tucson has a De Grazia on the wall. From Father Kino to mission to children of Arizona and Mexico there is so much to be interpreted in this artist's work. The gallery itself had many rooms full of his work and there is a looped story of Ted and his history viewable on a television in one room. It's not refined but it is interesting, and it's free. Come take a look!

While not as well known as the Museum of Art, this gallery is well worth a visit. The building and grounds are historic and worth seeing. The art is very western and tells the story of the west. There is an old chapel on the grounds that you should see as well. This gallery is very near an upscale shopping center, La Encantada.
