Long drive from Phoenix to course. Looked like a great course on website. When we arrived, it was about 15 degrees colder. (Didn't think of that when we dressed for golf) so dress warm if it's an early morning round. Staff was great. A lot of the holes were just silly. No flat lies anywhere and a lot of the tee shots had long carries. My husband I are pretty good golfers, but we didn't find it very enjoyable.

It is sensory overload from the tee box and frankly, once you get your ball in the fairway, with a couple exceptions, the course is fairy straight-forward after that, but you just have to hike up your pants, suck in your breath, pick a spot and forget about what you're seeing as you tee off. Pick a set of tees that you can hit a straight ball to 150 yards, and you'll probably enjoy the course a lot. You can bounce your ball off the green surrounds and funnel it close to the pin in many cases. Greens and fairways are rock hard, firm and fast. Play for 20-30 yards of roll on tee shots at least and you can bounce your ball onto many greens. The starter was friendly and had great playing tips. See full review on tips golf tips on the net. Also, there are placards on the tee boxes of the "non-intuitive" holes. They are accurate (with the possible exception of the aiming direction off the tee on #18, depending on club selection and ball flight) and I would generally heed their guidance. Prices are reasonable, course was in great shape, even in winter and it had a nice practice facility, although it could use a practice bunker and larger short game area. The only real drawback was the fact that there's no way you could walk this course and pace of play will inherently be slow, due to the massive traverses between green and the next tee and ball-searching if you miss the fairway or green. Any misses anywhere on this course will be severely punished, but if you keep it in play, you can score well. Special kudos to the starter and pro for being welcoming and making the round enjoyable.

Good menu, I especially like the salads, the tap beer options and the outdoor seating overlooking the golf course and the mountains.

Course is excellent. Tough pin placement, narrow fairways, elevation changes on many holes. If you can normally shoot 100 or less give it a try. If not, this is not the course for you yet. Fabulous views and good service here also.

My husband and I recently stayed in Prescott and played StoneRidge. We both thoroughly enjoyed the course. It is definitely target golf as the designer respected the natural lay of the land and didn't bulldoze the property. I have a 23 handicap and my husband is a 13 and we both found the course to be challenging but fun. Our clubs travel with us everywhere and we love to play new courses. We are already planning to go back to Prescott and play StoneRidge again; it is well worth the trip to experience this course. To address some of the criticism about this course, between the two of us we lost three golf balls and that's only because we weren't familiar with the course. We have found too often people come to a new course and play the wrong tees. Be smart when you pick your tees since there are a lot of elevation changes. If you're realistic about your game and pick the correct tees, you will enjoy a wonderful golf experience! The staff were very accommodating. We were able to get out early and played in four hours on a Thursday so we had no issues with that at all. We'll definitely play it again!

First to play here you should be realistic and play the proper tees. Be prepared for a 5 hour round because of distances between holes. This is not typical golf, the course is tricked up and you must hit the right spots on the fairways for a fair approach. The greens have a lot of moguls which you don't know about until you have played at least 3 times so be be prepared to three putt. The sand traps are in deplorable condition because of poor golf etiquette. I would play again because of accrued knowledge. Uphill holes are relatively short downhill longer. Par threes are target golf.

My buddy and I went there early on a weekend morning in July. The lot was almost empty and we got right on the course. Originally from the mid-west, this course was very different for me. It has extreme differences in elevation on many holes. Our golf cart had to be stout to climb some of the inclines on the course. The course itself was in fine shape. The greens rolled true and many greens had challenging breaks. There are several tee choices for golfers of different talent. The fairways are wide but many narrow down in the hitting areas. Driver isn't always your best choice on par 4's and 5's. We were able to play in under 4 hours which is always a plus. There was nice clubhouse, but we were off the course so early that we didn't try and food.

It is a challenging course but once you learn the layout it's great fun. The course is beautifulwith elevation changes and interesting holes to meet your golf needs.

Great course, you need to hit it straight but the elevation helps on your distance. I had the advantage of playing with 3 locals who saved me a few times. No walkers allowed but that is because of the distance green to next tee

If it was spring, summer or fall, this would no doubt be an excellent review but, even in winter when most of the grasses are brown rather than green, it rates as very good. There are many spectacular holes with significant elevation changes and great long views in every direction. Not for the faint of heart. There is a good mix of long and short par 4's,a quartet of beautiful downhill par 3's and the finishing par 5's on each nine are tough but great holes. There are a few forced carries here and there but if you play the right set of tees this should not be an issue. The folks are very friendly and even in winter, course conditions were very good.

This is a great golf course with lots of elevation changes. Can play from a variety of tees and from the "black" the course can be difficult. Well maintained and the staff was friendly and the food in the Grille was excellent.

A great course if you want to practice your short game. Don't get me wrong, there are some long holes to play, but you had better hit it straight!! A very challenging course, with a lot of ups and downs. This course can humble you very quickly. The 19th hole is also one of the best around, enjoy your game!!

This is indeed a spectacular golf course. We were 3 couples ranging in ability (nothing near pro) and every one of us had a great time. The staff in the pro shop and the restaurant were wonderful, and we were amazed by the stunning views of Prescott Valley. We will definitely return if we ever travel that way again :)

This is a placement golf course, varying in elevation and adequately maintained with some great mountain views from the edge of Prescott Valley.
