This is a photographic opportunity you can't pass up if you're taking the drive through the Petrified Forest National Park. The views here are fantastic with plenty of agatized petrified wood (actually whole trees and logs), colors and textures you won't believe until you actually experience it. Be sure and stop here!!!

A fascinating vista of fossilized tree trunks, all completely recognizable with their bark textures and everything, lying and emerging from the colorful badlands of the Painted Desert.

This is a worthwhile stop if you're in the Petrified Forest. Far below the overlook you'll see piles of petrified logs that were apparently deposited during a flood or damming of a stream eons ago.

Make sure to stop here within the Petrified Forest National Park. The area offers impressive views of the Painted Desert plus one can see easily many large pieces of petrified trunks of wood seemingly frozen in time.

This is worth the stop if only to see the many logs uncovered and read how the area was exploited prior to being protected. It offers some great views and photo ops.
