This is not just a lighthouse this is the entire surrounding grounds. It includes the houses and the other out buildings. It is a very informative, self-guided tour. Everything is kept in pristine condition and plenty of docents for answering questions.

I had visited several lighthouses before on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so I figured I would give this one a try as well. I was a little iffy about the admission price, but after learning it included not only the lighthouse and grounds, but the museum across the street, I decided to give it a try. I sure am glad I did. The staff was amazing. We were told stories by them about their personal connections with the lighthouse and island, which made the experience even more special. The climb to the top was long (aren't they all) and the steps were wet due to morning fog, but the view from the top was worth the climb. The buildings on the site are nicely restored or in the process. And the museum across the street was also a fun experience. I wouldn't mind coming back to visit!

Beautiful scenery driving in and the best part is that you actually get to climb the lighthouse! Make for an incredible photo op. Definitely try to make it before sunset. The museum is very informative to the history of the island and the museum.

Thank you for the terrific service given to the 60 people we brought in on a foggy, windy morning to climb and tour the property. As always you take great care of the group in the safest possible way so they can get the most for their time.

My fiance and I are both fans of water, especially the ocean, and anything associated with it, so we obviously HAD to visit the lighthouse. The nice thing about this is that when you buy admission to the lighthouse and the grounds, that will also allow you to go to the museum, which is only a few steps away from the lighthouse. So, very nice! I liked how the lighthouse and surrounding buildings were well preserved (including the lighthouse keeper's house), and we learned quite a bit about the history of the lighthouse and of Tybee Island. The view from the top of the lighthouse is breathtaking. Just be warned, it is quite high up. So, if you're afraid of heights (like I am), it might be a good idea to bring a friend with you. Also, it's quite a hike up, with a winding staircase that seems endless. So, make sure you got a good pair of legs, a strong heart, strong lungs, and good endurance if you so choose to go up. The museum is in Fort Screven, which is right next to the public parking area (paid parking). If you pay for admission at the lighthouse though, park in the lot right next to the entrance of the gift shop. You can park there for free with paid admission. The museum has lots of info on the history of Tybee Island going as far back as the Spanish missionaries and pirates up until the present time. It's so fascinating to learn how the island has changed so much! If you're a lover of history like me, you should definitely drop on by.

Thought the admission price was a little steep. Was able to take pictures outside the fencing. Off the beaten path

Do this on a warm, sunny day. If it is windy, they will close the top lookout, and you will climb all those stairs for nothing. Ver interesting keeper's residence. Museum is also interesting. The restored summer beach home seems to keep its own hours, and this was disappointing. NOTE: this is NOT for folks who have trouble walking and doing steps. The museum especially if steps everywhere.

Don't miss this at all. Climb the 178 steps for a fantastic view! All of the buildings are worth seeing. Nice gift shop also.

So this is a great little light house that has been really well kept/restored along with a lighthouse keepers home. It was definitely worth seeing and the view of Tybee Island is somewhat breath taking from the top (178 stairs). I did find it a little pricey for 2 adults and 4 kids (wish they had a family rate) but not too far over the top. The adjoining museum/battery/Fort tour does add to the value of the ticket and was quite interesting as it also shares a lot of history of the island itself. Staff were quite friendly in all parts of our tour here, but we did not find them always all that knowledgeable.

Great view from the top of the lighthouse. Very interesting museum on the grounds of the light house. The best place for pictures of the beach and the area.

We loved this self-guided lighthouse and museum tour & it was much better than expected. We have been in lighthouses before, and thought this was "just one more" to cross off the list. But the ticket price of $9 adult, $7 senior included so much more than just a lighthouse. Of course we did climb the 178 steps to the top of the lighthouse for the gorgeous ocean, river and island views, but we also toured the lightkeepers cottage, a summer house, another outbuilding showing a video, (do NOT skip this video as it gives the history of the lighthouse and is well worth sitting there for 15 minutes!) a beach cottage that was moved to the current location in order to preserve it, and the 1898 Battery of Fort Screven across the street. We found the battery/ fortress to be very interesting as it was filled with not only centuries of war history, but local history. We expected to be at the LIght Station only a short time and ended up spending almost 2 hours at the location. Of course, there is a nice gift shop also. This is where you begin and buy your tickets and where you end to purchase a few souvenirs. Also, next door is the North Beach Restaurant that was used in the movie "The Last Song."

I'm not one for heights, but the lighthouse is definitely worth the climb! Reasonably priced, and the grounds around the lighthouse are nice to tour as well. Beautiful spot for photographs! Especially if your willing to climb! ;)

This is a must see if you like local history. They need a larger gift shop as it does get cramped inside.

We are lighthouse nuts. We've visited lots of lighthouses in at least 8 states and this fully restored light station on Tybee Island is a treat. This is the tallest lighthouse in Georgia and gives the climber an amazing view of the island and area toward Savannah. The light is still used as a sight navigational point and can be seen 18 miles out to sea. It has a first order Fresnel lens. Other buildings include the outdoor kitchen, head keepers home and others. Your ticket price includes all open buildings, a museum and others. An included video and knowledgeable volunteers plus staff ensure you leave knowing this lighthouses place in history. Well worth the trip!
