Enjoyed time with friends at this winery. After listening to the owners it sounds like they have plans to make this even a better place to visit. It was a little out of the way but worth the drive if you are in the area. They were very friendly and helpful and when the weather gets better I'd like to plan on returning for another wine tasting and to enjoy the outdoor scenery. The winery is free and the wine tasting was $6.00 and you tell them what your tastes are and they will help guide you on what SIX wines you want to taste. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Myself and two friends made the best out of a very cold day in North Georgia. We drove to this winery but our GPS got us lost but their son Justin gave us great directions and it was worth the drive. Karen, an owner, greeted us outside as we arrived and took us inside as she explained their various wines. It was $6.00 to taste six wines and all of us purchased a bottle or two that needed a good home...... She said they had music on the weekends and I know a prettier day it would have been even more enjoyable to spend a little time outside and enjoy the views. We stayed about 1 1/2 hours and we never felt rushed and just enjoyed our time together visiting. We plan on returning with additional friends when the weather warms up! Thank you Karen, for making this such an enjoyable day, Cheers!

Excellent wine, fantastic owners and a magnificent view. We also enjoyed listening to Wade Sapp on the guitar. We highly recommend Chateau Meichtry.

Love the family, the setting and of course the wine! Their passion is evident and love of crafting something beautiful is already showing. I am excited to see where they are in years to come.

The ladies at Cartecay winery told us about Chateau Meichtry. It sits atop a high rise overlooking looking planted vines and mountains in the distance. Beautiful! A family winery, the owners were present, knowledgeable, and friendly. The tasting room is inviting, cozy, and comfortable, but will eventually be replaced as they grow. They are, as wineries go, just getting started, but I think they have a bright future. No, they don't have their own grapes, yet, but I liked what they've done with what they have to work with. If you like whites, try their Vidal Blanc.

While visiting our dear friends in Georgia to celebrate New Year's Eve and a birthday, we took a couple of wine tours. This one was the best! The atmosphere was super cozy with the friendliest staff made out visit even better. The wine selection was excellent, and delicious. I would highly recommend finding this place and going to visit!!!

Yesterday my wife and I visited a new winery in our area, Chateau Meichtry. This winery is located on a high hill in the Cartecay Valley with a beautiful view of the North Georgia mountains.Their tasting room feels like walking into a quaint French country winery. on a quiet country hill. Their adjacent patio has panoramic views of the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. You feel like a guest in their winery, while you get to sample their wines, and listen to local musicians. There is no cover charge for being in their tasting room, or listening to local musicians. This winery is proud of of their winery heritage, and their wines. You will enjoy visiting and relaxing at their winery. Tasting 5 different of their wines at Chateau Meichtry is a very reasonable $6, with no cover charge. Chateau Meichtry is confident in their winery and their wines, and will make you feel like a guest at their winery. This winery will easily sell itself, and be a success.. For a fun relaxing day, I recommend visiting Chateau Meichtry ! If you don't feel like you are visiting a quaint French country winery, then you need to drink more of their wine! For more information, check out their website at http://chateaumeichtry.com/.

We've been to many North Georgia wineries and were thrilled to check out a couple of new arrivals in the Ellijay area. The good - 6 tastings for $6 is an unbelievable bargain. The cons - Most of the wines that they feature are not their own wines, but rather wines from Montaluce winery and Currahee. Wines that Meichtry produces are mostly from imported grapes. We did not like any enough to buy a bottle. The powders were very nice and the setting was beautiful. The beautiful "chateau "building is is the owners home and not the tasting room which is a smaller building off of the parking lot.

4 of us went there after visiting another winery. Have been to all the wineries in the area and was a member of one winery's wine club for awhile. have also been to Napa and Sonoma twice. With all of this being said, Chateau Meichtry has excellent wine. In my opinion the best in this area by far. The nose of their wines are great. Loved all the wines that we tasted. the owners are very friendly and gracious. great music and great vibe in the tasting room. Ended up buying a case of wine and will join their wine club when it becomes available. Check out this winery, they are doing everything right.

Scouting out wineries is our mission. And we found a gem in Chateau Meichtry. Warm, classy, beautiful setting and truly nice people. This is a DO NOT MISS when in the North Georgia Mountains.
