I stopped by the Church to capture some images. This ornate and stately Church was beautiful from the outside in. Unfortunately when I arrived, I was unable to capture as many images inside because I didn't want to disturb a Christening but I glimpsed at the beautiful organ and the stained glass and look forward to the opportunity to visit again.

Beautiful does not even come close to describing this church. The stain glass is wonderful. We went in the early afternoon and the sun was shining through the windows in the front of the church, and the effect was dramatic. A must see if in Macon. It is still a active church, so you need to go when they are not have Mass if you want to just walk around and see all the beautiful windows up close.

The stained glass windows and architecture are well worth a visit. Be sure to go inside if the church is open. Parking is available in the back.

I stopped in here because of the reviews and because it was compared to European churches. It was during mass, so I sat in the last pew and admired the stained glass windows and ceiling.

Outside of the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, best in the South. You'll think you are in Europe. Certainly worth a peek.

My maternal grandmother was born in Macon. She was the youngest of 7 children from an Irish Catholic family. Her mother was Margaret Cassidy and her family was one of the parishes founding families back in 1841. My mom was born in Macon but was raised in St. Louis. Every time we came down to Macon to visit my grandma's twin sisters during my childhood we would come to Sunday mass at St. Josephs. I haven't stepped foot in this beautiful church in almost 17 years, since my grandma's funeral mass was here...until today. It is definitely one of the most stunning churches I have ever stepped foot in. The ceilings, the alter, the stained glass, even the stairs leading up to the front doors are gorgeous. My family actually donated one of the stained glass windows all those years ago. It's the one with Saint Agnes, on the left toward the back of the church. I highly recommend stopping in to revel in all it's glory, Catholic or not. It will bring you a sense of peace in this crazy world.

The church was open to the public, so beautiful. We were able to talk a tour, on our own, and really enjoyed this historical building, centrally locted in Macon GA.

I was on my way to Savannah and stopped for the 12:15 p.m. Sunday mass. It was a wonderful experience. Smelling incense before I opened the sanctuary door, I took my place in one of the old pews. The church interior was magnificent with stained-glass windows everywhere. The service was conducted with reverence, the homily was instructive, and the priest faced east. At communion, you could stand or kneel. This is truly a church that is treasured and used as it was intended. This church is well worth a visit whether you are Catholic or not.

This building alone is worth the visit even if you are not Roman Catholic. The structure is so beautiful to view and you can see if down the road and all of its beauty.

Very impressive structure. Good location. Feels like an old European church. Nice congregation. Good sermon.

It feels at home when you visit and the art there is quite comforting. You can visit any time of day and you are always welcome.

Old, Beautiful Catholic Church not far from Sleep Inn. Mass on Palm Sunday 2014. Have not seen congregation in front of church with Palms since the Latin Masses I was involved with in the 1960's prior to Vatican 2.

Beautiful church! It is as ornate as any church I've seen in Europe. A couple members gave us background and history of the building. They were the best part of the tour :)

This is a must to see if you are in Macon. We travel to Catholic churches all over American and Europe and were very surprised to see a church of this architecture and stain glass windows in a city the size of Macon. I have not see stain glass windows like this since Chartres Cathedral in France. It was wonderful. AND added to that they had one of the best organs(3000 pipes) we have heard. My husband loves organ music and the Church holds free concerts often. I cannot say enough about this church.

Was stranded in Macon for mechanical repairs. Went to 5pm Mass on Sunday. Wow, what a beautiful Mass and. Beautiful old church. This is worth your time to just go see. Reminded me of some of the beautiful churches in Italy. Glad we had the mechanical problems and got to see this.
