A visit to this gallery puts some of the most collectible of SE American folk art at your fingertips and the prices put them easily within reach of casual or novice collectors. This is a huge and diverse collection and should be on your must visit list if you are in the area and have the remotest interest in the genre.

The owner clearly has developed strong relationships with the artists represented here, and this seems crucial. It is fun seeing the art, and the downstairs is particularly interesting (basement-like area), where even more work is housed.

So many treasures in this lovely shop on Main Street. I have shopped here for 12 years. For primitive art, for unusual handcrafted jewelry, for furniture, for pottery, for clothes! You name it--the perfect spot for something special in all price ranges.

We travel to Rabun County from Scotland, UK to visit friends and chill out in the mountains. Every trip seems to result in us shipping something from the gallery back home, last time it was a Leonard Jones painting ( on tin roofing!). The gallery has all sorts of folk art with many artists breaking into mainstream galleries…'Cornbread' Anderson is now pride of place in our dining room x 3 and we know that anything bought in this gallery is absolutely unique and unlikely to be ever seen as 'boring'. A visit to Main Street Gallery in Clayton will also bring you into contact with some of the nicest people y'all could hope to meet :)Some of the more popular artists can be quite pricey and not what you might think of as folk art value, this only reflects the fact that this artist is now exhibiting widely, becomin popular in the cities and worth collecting. We have NEVER regretted buying from here and marvel at how the art we have bought remains a talking point for everyone that visits our humble home in Scotland.
