Fascinating modern building - some sections closed depriving us of outside views, but exhibition excellent. Tea room good.

Small town in the north of Holland, but it has everything. Part of the old city centre was destroyed during WW2. But many nice mediaeval and seventeenth century buildings still there. Lots of young people due to the university and many other centers of education.

The Groningen museum is a (post?)modern building located on a major canal across the bridge from the Hoftstation. In addition to traveling exhibits, it is known for its collection of works painted by the artists referred to as the "Ploeg" - the plow - created at the turn of the 19th-20th century. Also, it contains a restaurant and a gift shop. The staff is friendly enough, and admission is comparable to other attractions in major European cities. We were interested in the Ploeg collection, but you may want to discover the nature of the traveling exhibits before going.

Good to understand more from the culture from north Netherlands. Very colorful. It's in a canal, which makes it even more interesting. It has a cool store and a cozy café.

I found the ticket prices far too high for the collection they have. There are always temporary exhibitions plus a stable exhibition. Nevertheless, there is not so much to see for this price and quite some items are just uninteresting. Consider going there when you have museum card though

Loved the collection of modern art and it is definitely worth a visit.Friendly staff but the restaurant was overly full when we wanted o go and have lunch so we were forced to leave and go elsewhere.

Interesting buildings by the river- Unusual exhibitions- fashions by Marga Weimans and paintings by Abe Kuipers. Good cafe for a quick lunch.

The building itself is an amazing work of art and a photographer's dream from any angle, and there are many. The art is very well displayed - not cluttered or crowded which allowed for the pieces to shine. The staff happy to help and direct you around the intriguing inside of the building. The obligatory museum shop had interesting and well prices souvenirs and gifts - I bought several which I don't usually. The cafe is just that and provided a welcome half way break to clear our minds before continuing the tour.A must see when in Groningen.

mostly modern art. Not huge amount. The building is fairly neat. €13 entrance fee, but they do take the Museum card (highly recommended).

The museum is unique, very beaytiful architecture. The only downside were the exhibitions at that time.

Visit the museum, it's fantastic. But don't go here for a serious meal. The service is very good, that's not the point. It's the lack of staff and focus on restaurant-worthy food that makes this a place to visit and admire, but not a place to have your dinner. Next time I go here, I'll just get a coffee, which was particularly good!

Very nice building opposing Groningen Central Station. Just to see the museum itself is a great visit in itself.

Recently restored, this is a must-see in Groningen. It is efficiently administered (what isn't in the Netherlands), and has all kinds of little perks: with a cube purchased on entry you can scan many of the displays, and arrange them on your own personal website of the museum, to enjoy again later. Take the time to see it, even if only for the impressive, iconic example of postmodernist architecture.

What a building! You walk out of the Central station in Groningen and see this fantastic modern architecture instantly. Inside the colour continues to wow you. Each room has a different colour theme that really helps to make the most of the exhibits. There is a mix of all artworks from paintings to sculptures, fashion designs and even some quirky videos to enjoy. Definitely worth a visit! I'd recommend the Museum Kaart (a card that saves you money if you visit more than 4/5 museums in NL within the year).

Great building with lots to see. Some I loved, some was a bit meh. If you like modern art there will be lots to see.
