As a resident of Gateshead, I visit the park on a regular basis and, as such, it is easy to become complacent and to take it all for granted. It is a vast, well kept urban park with fascinating and quaint Victorian architecture which has a wide appeal no matter what the season. As a local amateur artist, I often set up my easel and "dabble" a while - very relaxing. There is, what can only be described as a "Fairytale Castle" known as Saltwell Towers which serves coffee, tea and snacks daily. The "Towers" may also be booked for Weddings or Corporate functions. In short, the best free-show in town - well worth a visit

Great walks , safe for kids , gardens and lawns kept neat and tidy , lake for the grand kids to catch sticklebacks , just like I did when I was young .

A wonderful park with something for everyone. Boating lake ( boats for hire in the summer) two exciting adventure playgrounds. Pets corner, Bowling Greens, Tennis Courts and outdoor gym. Plenty of room to play foot ball, hide and seek, and even sledging ( when it snows). The park has a collection of interesting sculpture and a well established maze. All year round you will find special events. After a varied walk you can rest in Saltwell Towers with a cup of tea etc

This is one of the best parks I have ever visited and the cafe is excellent. I love the walks round the park and the boating lake. Nothing I dislike.

Saltwell park is brilliant, a huge place with lots to do all year round, loads of events take place throughout the year. The Tower Cafe serves reasonably priced delicious food, there is a Boating Lake, great place to feed the ducks, Mini Farm, & an Aviary. My granddaughter loves it.

I visit this park on at least a monthly basis. It's great for kids with plenty of space to run around in. In the summer when it's busy there is still enough space for you not to feel crammed in. There are plenty of different areas as well to enjoy. Lots of events take place throughout the year. We have done the enchanted parks for the last two years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth a visit

A great place to visit, particularly on a hot summer's day. Ideal if you want a hilly walk, a rest on the grass, a place to exercise your dog, a game of bowls,an ice cream, a drink and bite to eat in the quaint cafe or to look at the flora & fauna. The lake always looks like it needs some care and attention and the snack bar at the top of the park is never open!Best time to visit is just before 9.00 am on a Saturday morning for the Parkrun.

Lovely park right on our doorstep. Good for all the family any time of year. Our four legged friends also love coming here! The park is huge once you get inside and there is lots to see and do such as the cafe and boating lake. It's nice to have somewhere that is kept so nice so close to home.
