This church stands majestically above the town, and a steep walk is needed in order to reach it. However, the climb is well worth it because this is a really magnificent church. Even if it didn't have the Vernon monuments, this would be a very interesting building, but the Vernon Chapel and the numerous memorials in it is truly amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring this church.

The old church is filled with old artifacts that were discovered in the area. It is very interesting to see these ancient pieces and to read about their story. There is also a café inside the church. I didn't tried it, but its an interesting idea to have one in such a place :)

The medieval and 17th century memorials in the Vernon chapel are stunning. Detailed sculptures and funny inscriptions. They are fascinating and moving - if you can get to them. I struggled to get near the memorials - because I had to clamber over buckets, a table football game, a pile of umbrellas and a load of stuff that should all be tidied away in a cupboard or shed and nowhere near these precious monuments. The church authorities should be ashamed.

I was born and brought up in Bakewell. Was Baptised in this church, did Sunday school, Brownies and guides and never really appreciated the beauty and reverence of this place until I returned for a funeral on a stunningly sunny Autumnal day. I felt great sadness and a strange comfort that only a church and vicar such as these who seemed two halves of a whole can bring. I hope the family found comfort and both closure and hope that day. The light through the church windows added a further dimension and strange beauty

If you go to the Museum include in you trip and visit to the church the mosaic floor in front of the alter are well worth a visual. The church also provides a light lunch affordable for everyone. In August there was a display in the church of Dolls Houses which were very interesting and covered quite a interesting and vast period

There's plenty of evidence lying around to show that there has been a church here for a thousand and more years but unfortunately those Victorians had a hand in "restoring" it so precious little remains. Can't blame them I suppose as booming populations needed bigger places of worship and nothing stood in the way of progress back then.

The other reviews say it all. The monuments are very interesting indeed. Well worth the visit. Linger and don't rush. The info leaflet needs searching for! Shame they are not in different languages

All Saints has some lovely stained glass windows and some very interesting monuments of the Vernon and Manners families.

What a beautiful church. We spent ages in the south porch studying the numerous ancient carved monuments with their fascinating patterns and pictures.Inside, the church had that 'loved' feeling and we appreciated all the information boards around the building.

Canon Tony is both vibrant and fun; he can bring the service to life for both young and old and is well able to demonstrate the relevance of the teachings of the bible in a modern, often cynical world. Even if you are not well acquainted with faith (and I am not) you will feel lifted by a service at All Saints.

The church contains some interesting old artefacts, including a set of carved stones by the doorway; but you know what, wouldn't it be far better if it was converted for some public use, music venue, squash court, pub, restaurant - something that would serve the community effectively and with purpose.
