bugtopia was part of a price deal with greentrunks, this was the second part of the trip ,the first being greentrunks,it was a little scary for my 3 year old grandson who did not like going through the curtain into a pitch black room but because of the type of animals it had to be dark,we saw snakes, bats and lots of crawly things (I did not like them) but the children were able to hold the animals, even the bats, will definitely return.

Heard from friends that bugtopia was good. But when we took our eldest child (6 yrs) it turned out to amazing. He loved looking at all the animals. Especially loved the animal show where be had chance to hold many creatures. Well worth a visit.

My family travelled nearly two hours to take the grandkids to Bugtopia and it was well worth the journey. The childrens faces lit up when they could hold the critters and get rid of some of their fears of them. The keeper was very informative, made us feel welcome and at ease all the time we were there. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have a fantastic time and the shops wonderful as you can take home a critter or two, all in all its a lovely day out and I would travel the same distance to do it again. Thank you to everyone for the pleasant day we had.

As a family, Sunday's are our day to have fun. We like to take the kids swimming, out to a country park, on a bike ride etc...We have been trying to find some new activities to include and Bugtopia was recommend to us by a college. You are greeted by the keeper and sat around a room with around 20 people. There was an age range from babies to pensioners. You start off with small bugs and creatures and get bigger as the session goes on. The keeper was also the owner/creater and had a real knowledge and passion for the animals. Some of our group had been before so the keeper made sure they got to see some different animals on this visit. At only £4 each it is great value. The sessions are an hour long running at 11, 1 and 3 o'clock so you can't spend a whole day there, but it is a brilliant morning/afternoon treat. I will defiantly be going back in the future!

I love Bugtopia. Every aspect is amazing. The owners are very nice people who really know their stuff. The animals get expert care and the shows are really interesting for all ages. I wholeheartedly recommended visiting this wonderfully quirky and fascinating place.

We have been a couple of times now and have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. Each show is different, animals clearly cared for and staff are passionate about correct animal care and education. Cafe do really tasty cakes and their hot chocolate is yummy. Can't wait for the zoo. Everyone should go it's fantastic value and a great unique day out :)

We had a great visit to Bugtopia which lasted just over 60 minutes. The guide was very enthusiastic, sensitive to his audience and very knowledgeable. We handled stick insects, cockroaches, bearded dragons, tarantulas and an iguana during our session but understand that all sessions have a differing mix of reptiles and insects. Highly recommended!

A great morning holding stick insects, hissing cockroaches, praying mantis, millipede, tarantula & a bearded dragon lizard. Very interesting & informative hour, only £4.25 each and staff were excellent with small children. The only negative is that the place seemed a little run down and animals available were more limited than usual because they are currently in the middle of a move setting up a zoo in Rutland. I think that will be well worth a visit too.

We went with our 10 year old daughter and she really enjoyed getting the chance to handle some interesting reptiles and bugs, including a tarantula. I also got to handle the tarantula and probably enjoyed it more than she did...There was lots of interesting information from the keeper, but the show was kept quick moving and exciting for the kids. The venue is in its infancy and could be improved, but the enthusiasm and passion of the staff shines through.

We went with 4 children - a 3 and a half year old, a almost 3 year old, a 1 and a half year old and a 1 year old.Based on the reviews of tripadvisor, we chose to meet at Bugtopia, and it worked like a charm. As said before, the venue is nothing to write home about but... the passion of the people involved in bugtopia is great.the vision of moving bugtopia to a bigger venue is commendablethe price of the day out (£4 each for anyone over the age of 2) is a bargainthe hands on is really good with the crowd, where we held a positive menageriethe lunch was good value if a bit limited due to post Christmas rushWe spent half a day there, and felt we had a good experience - got there, enjoyed looking at the animals outside, had the 45 minute talk, then lunch then looked at more animals before calling it a day. Most enjoyable.

Visited with three kids aged 13, 8 and 5 and had a great experience! The keeper, Joe, shared lots of interesting information about the animals and even the younger children were able to hold them. We even braved the big spider. A fantastic experience and a great way to spend an afternoon.

Bugtopia is an impressive array of bugs, reptiles and mammals. We visited as a couple early on a monday and they were more than welcoming, for a meager £4 we had the experience of lifetime. We really did not expect what we saw for the money we paid, we only thought we were getting to look at the bugs and reptiles but we instead got to hold a multitude of the bugs and reptiles! On this trip we got to hold different types including a tarantula and a chameleon. People who slate this place really aren't worth listening to, they have obviously not used this attraction to its full potential, this place provides a "pick and mix" range of activities which you can participate in, including free access to some areas, handling and holding of various species, meeting of foxes and raccoon, the prices are very reasonable and we cannot wait to visit the dedicated staff which make this place work when they finally manage to open their zoo. Cheers guys we will definitely be visiting again! ,
