If you are stopping in Sinaia to see Peles Castle, I would most definitely make the time to see the Sinaia Monastery. Ideally, you could see the monastery first and then walk up the tree-lined path to Peles Castle, while shopping in the Romanian stalls along the way.

I visited the monastery while my visit in Peles Pallace and i was impressed by the architecture and the history. If you are clode by in the area you must pay a visit!

The monastery has an older part, which dates from the early 1600. It has several amazing fresco's. I found these very curious and interesting because they are not really religious. The new building is a "real" monastery, built in roman style and very nice decorated. Worth to see as it is situated very close to the city center and a walk to the monastery is a relaxing activity. The nature around is also just beautiful.

The architecture of this monastery is impressive and visiting this location in winter and snow all round makes it even more beautiful.

This monastery have two churches, and the new one is very impressive through arhitecture, icons and religious paintings. Here we can find the tomb of Take Ionescu, important political figure in Romanian history.

This is a must to see. The orthodox church is just amazing. So is in fact the surrounding view. I will return again.

Our first stop on our guided tour and what a way to start! The Orthodox Romanian Church is ornate and stunning. The art and icons will overwhelm you at first so take your time to see it all. No pictures during Mass so be respectful. Make sure you visit original church in the Monastery. The walls are adorned with beautiful friezes. The back wall has painting of the founder and his family with 18 children (we counted 17).

The view surrounding the monastery was just enchanting. The painting on the walls and ceiling were just so captivating.

We ambled about the monastery in the rain. There's a ticket booth at the entrance with an advertised entry of 5 lei, but it was unmanned, and no-one seemed to want to take our money. Its worth reading up on the place before you go as there also wasn't much on-site info available. Both the old and the new churches are very beautiful, and typically ornate inside.Definitely worth popping in when you're in Sinaia

Charming working Monastery. Worth a brief visit as does not take long to view. 5 lei entrance fee. Worth a look if you are in the area. We combined it with our visits to Bran Castle and Peles Castle.

Its impossible to think of the monastery as anything else but a living breathing community. The monks were praying, cleaning, tending the garden and discussing repairs to outbuildings when we were there. lf It has as a beautiful church, built just outside an idyllic cloisters. But the old smaller church within the cloisters steals the show in terms of its simple beauty created as a place of worship to God. Check it out, and light a candle while you are there

Sinaia Monastery is a beautiful look back into both history and the present. It is a pleasant experience wandering through the monastic grounds and getting lost in the artwork throughout the buildings. It also represents a wonderful example of inspiration from another source, such as the monastery on Mount Sinai. It's a perfect place to visit if you're in the area.
