sculpture for ignas and lina

This 5m high oak sculpture of two connected parts with metal suns on top depicts a legend of Ignalina.Legend says, that long time ago, where now we find Ilgio lake, there was a castle of Duke Budrys. And he had nine sons and a beautiful daughter Lina. When attacked by crusaders, Budrys and his sons went out to war and did not return. Lina became a lord of the castle. One day Lina fell in love with a crusaders prisoner Ignas. People condemned Lina for this love and the wedding day they were cursed. But the Thunder spared lovers - allowed them to reside at the bottom of the lake. Over the ages people started hearing Lina's lament arriving from the lake. They realized that Lina's and Ignas love is still alive. And when among the beautiful lakes and hills a small town appeared, people called it Ignalina so that the ages would mention extraordinary Lina's and Ignas love. A wellspring exudes at Ilgio lake now. Its water is clear as a tear, that's why people call it Lina's tears.
