Free, great view and interesting stone formation. . . . what more could you want? There is also a couple of restaurants down in the harbor so you can get something to eat if you are hungry.

I have been several times to Ales Stenar with my family and friends. The location on the hills above Kåseberga fishinghabor is a remarkeble place. From the place you see the nice blue ocean and the open landscape of Österlen. You can also by good tasting smoked fish of all kind at Ahl -s rökeri. I will realy recom-mended a visit to this place

This is a stone ship, similar to Celtic stone circles, on a head land south of Ystad, impressive area ,fairly wild wind and not much in the way of facilities . but nicer for it.

There is a big parking lot from which you walk down a main street and then turn off to a dirt track. There's an information booth at the parking lot if you need to ask for any assistance. The walk is a bit of a distance and there are some steep parts. You get there and it's a green meadow with great views over the sea if you take the time to walk along the bluff. The stone structure is interesting and you can walk all around and inside but it would have been nice if there was some platform that would have allowed for a view from above so you could really see the shape of the structure.

Ales Stenar is a Must if you are in the neighborhood of South East Skåne!!! Facinating the way the rocks are situated!!

While the stones (most are maybe 2m tall) are interesting as an artifact of history, I found the hiking path & surrounding view more interesting. The Ales Stenar sits atop a bluff overlooking the sea, which is quite lovely. There is parking nearby (perhaps 500m) with some stairs to climb, and the remainder of the walk through open fields. Below, near the parking area, are several fishing shacks & businesses. There is one that offers a variety of smoked & fresh fish - worth a stop if you enjoy fish.

The stones of Ales Stenar stand like ancient sentients guarding the coastline of Sweden, but in truth it is more likely they are there for some pre-viking tribal ceremonies. It's the stonehenge of Sweden. It's in one of the most beautiful regions of Sweden- picturesque. friendly.... beware of the serious uphill hike to the top of the cliff!

Interesting shipsetting in a nice place. Wonderful surroundings and a nice Little fishing harbour nearby.

On top of a ridge close to both the Baltic sea and heaven above, Ales stenar (The stones of Ale) consists of some 60 stones. Some say it's a viking grave, others that it is a solar calendar. There lies a mystical atmosphere in the air and the views are spectacular. Don't go to close to the edge of the ridge, though. There are some steep 50 metres down to the ocean. In the nearby village of Kåseberga, you can enjoy all kinds of fresh and smoked fish from different smokehouses and restaurants.

A very nice piece of history! The view over the Baltic sea is wonderful. And if you love food from the sea the small harbor offers you small restaurants with great food!

A really lovely place, peaceful and quiet. There is a nice walk up to the stone circle. Free entry and a great view. Also, can highly recommend the restaurants nearby for some fried sill (herring) with logan berry jam. Very yummy and very Swedish.

We approached the Ale Stenar from the Baltic harbor up a fairly steep but short climb. Pause to observe your ascent, as you will get there soon enough to the stones and space. Breathe the Baltic air. There is no hurry. The site itself will provide you a contemplative 360 degree view of the horizon over which you can imagine the sun or moon rising or setting as you position yourself behind the appropriate stones to mark your observance. Listen to the stones...walk the area, what did you hear? Reminded me of being at a Medicine Wheel in Wyoming. Much knowledge there, but the instructions have ceased to follow the legends................

I used to come here a lot as a kid growing up in Ystad. It's one of my favorite spots. The view of the Baltic, and the fresh air, and the stones are really impressive and whispers of traditions long forgotten. And how the heck did they get these stones all the way up here? Mysterious, eh?

The setting is quite dramatic and the interpretation boards give enough information to get a sense of what it is about.I had never seen such a monument before and found it very interesting.Be prepared for a fairly steep walk up to the monument in places, not suitable for disabled or those with difficulty walking over uneven ground. 500m from car parking area at harbour.
