Ironical visiting this place after Van Gogh's final resting place as although Van Gogh had painted this church they refused to assist with any part of his funeral due to he taking his own life. The church itself if quaint in its own way but what really brings it home is Van Gogh's painting.

It seemed symbolic to first visit this beautiful little church, famously depicted in a Van Gogh painting, as we continued up the hill to the cemetery where Van Gogh is buried.

Beautiful early church in very good condition. Van Gogh's mournful picture captured the essence of the Eglise de Notre Dame

Van Gogh has a painting, called the "Church in Auvers-sur-Oise", and it's right in the middle of the small town. It's really intresting to have a look at the real building and compare it to the way Van Gogh saw it not to mention that the church itself dates back to the 12th century.
