An excellent aquarium. Great for the whole family. Lots of hands-on stuff. Excellent explanations and a realistic experience on a boat in a storm. A must-see for kids of all ages.

If you want to see marine animals and learn a lot about them visit this interesting aquarium. They com mostly from the Mediterranean Sea, hence the name "Mare nostrum", but penguins and tropical fish are not forgotten. You can also enjoy without anything to fear the thrills of a storm from the wheel of a boat. The entrance fee is somewhat expensive but the costs must be high, too.

This is a nice place to go with friends or with your family. Impressive aquarium where you can see real sharks! A place to go!

We visited the Aquarium on our last day in Montpellier. Beautifully kept and with some engaging details along the way (where the aquarium is set out like a boat, submarine etc). We particularly liked the penguins and watching the sharks. It was quite expensive (15.50€) for what was probably about an hour and a half visit, but you probably could spend longer there doing some of the activities along the way, especially if visiting with children. Outside the aquarium there are loads of restaurants and a short walk away is a shopping centre. We had a pleasant morning into early afternoon in this part of Montpellier. Get the tram line 1 to Place de France, turn right and you'll see the aquarium.

There are bigger and better Aquaria in the world but this one in Montpellier deserves a visit. My wife and I thoroghly enjoyed the trip into the aquatic world.

I was expecting big things when I walked into the enchanting entrance, but as I walked further into the aquarium, I realised its just average compared to others I have visited. Also, I feel its not very visitor-friendly as not all the information boards are written in English. Kids will enjoy it.

There are many aquariums and personallista this one is not for us. Great ones can be found e.g. In Istanbul

First off - it is a little expensive - let's get that out of the way. 15 euros per adult is a little steep for what can be anything from 1-3 hour visit (I think we were about 1 1/2 hours). But you know what? I didn't really grudge it.Having never been to an aquarium before, I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. It's not just a lot of tanks with fish, but a journey through well-designed and well thought out areas of viewing. I'm 51 but really enjoyed it :)There is a lot of educational stuff for both kids and adults alike and the way the that the whole place out is impressive.Just a short tram ride out from the centre of the city (and the Montpellier football club shop is just opposite).(I also have to laugh at people who visit France and complain that the locals don't speak English). A word of advice - if you make an effort to speak the language of the country you are visiting, the locals will be very accommodating :)

The fish in the aquaria are beautiful, especially the large tank with fearsome sharks. The 3D adventure is absolutely overrated, waiting in queue for a two minute 3D movie. The people working there really made this an awful start: we had a ticket from a tourist information office giving eur 1,50 discount per person. At the entrance they would only give 1,50 discount on one single ticket, not on each ticket. On their family ticket they would not give any discount at all. None of the staff speaks any English or even tries to speak English.None of the booklets are available in English. Although some of the information in the aquarium is in English, the staff was not aware of that.... What a miserable start for a reasonable attraction.

We went as a family to escape the sun for a while. While the kids were too old ( age 13+) to qualify for the family ticket it seemed pricey at over 75 Euros for 5 adult tickets. However, we spent 2.5 hours there and thoroughly enjoyed it. If the treasures of the deep fascinate you, or you have forgotten the wonders of colour, shape and size in our oceans then give this a go.

Spent 2-3 hours going slowly through the aquarium by myself and it was amazing! I really enjoyed it and it's not just a one pond place - lots to see! Great and in a great area (Odysseum). Perfect place to spend the day especially with friends or family. But expect to pay for it!

I hadn't been to an aquarium for 40 years and wasn't at all sure I wanted to go to this but it was recommended by a friend who lived in Montpellier and we didn't regret following his advice. Lots of things to see and plenty of opportunities to learn about the ocean. Nicely laid out as a sort of tour of the world's seas and marine environments. As someone else said, the big shark tank is quite amazing. Perhaps a little expensive but I thought it was well worth the tram trip out from Montpellier.

Not a bad attempt, went to the one at La Rochelle last year and found it to be a bit better, and La Rochelle is a small town. A bit expensive @ e15.50c each I thought, about half the price would be a true reflection of it's contents, The Ships bow video display was good though, almost felt sea sick watching it!

From the beginning I was impressed with the aquarium. It was huge, with many different activities, notably the life-like boat experience and the feeding of the penguins. Must-see for all animal lovers; the sharks were amazing, as well as the indoor waterfall. Loved it loved it loved!
