This "Church" stands in a small French village near the top of a hill, and can been seen from most angles for miles around.When we went 16th August they were just setting up a festival to celebrate one saints, however this did not stop us wandering round and enjoying the size of this building.At the time of the visit there was a display outlining the path of the Turin shroud and part that the region played in the transportation of the shroud, very interesting.There is also some interesting wall plaques of showing Jesus's path to the cross, these can be seen in many churches in the region, some are painted on wood, in this church they are carved.

worth a look a fairly impressive interior -- the poor old peasants must have slogged their guts out....

An amazing place of worship, at the heart of the Le Dorat community. For a relatively small French town, the size of the building is enormous. There's frequent events in the square outside the Collegiale, from farmer's markets to historic car rallies. If you are in the Haute-Vienne region, or heading south on the A20 from Orleans, this is well worth a diversion. There is no entry fee.

This church is huge! Lovely to stroll around and then to enjoy Le Dorat town. Visit in the summer months when the producers market is held outside every alternate Thursday and the band is playing on the steps.

Superbe Église à visiter sans faute.Après, il faut se balader dans de petit village très agréable.Les rues et ruelles cachent de jolies maisons.Le Dorat est une étape à ne pas rater en Haute Vienne.

Den meget store, dystre 1000 år gamle katedral i den lille by Le Dorat i Limousine-regionen er en stor omvej værd. Den strenge arkitektur med de grå, usmykkede mure og tårne minder om religionens betydning og menneskesyn dengang på korsfarernes tid - livet var ikke for sjov. Samme stemning hviler over kirkegården med de forstemmende, grå gravmonumenter lige uden for bymuren. Også værd at slå et smut ind omkring.
