Interesting for lovers of art deco houses. In a leafy sburb this little museum was once the home of the van Buuren family. The furnishings are all original to the house and illustrate the domestic stlye of the period.

If you like history , charming houses, beautiful gardens and poetry, gonwithout delay visitbthis most charming place a bit innthe fancy suburb of Brussels: its really worth it: for me the best place to visit in Brussels with the Stoclet palace but unfortunately this last one can only be admired from outside...

Unlike some great homes and palaces, you can actually picture yourself living in this beautiful art deco gem. The house is beautifully designed, and the gardens are worth a visit themselves. I wouldn't call the artwork masterpieces, but it all fits in with the surroundings. And the museum is opened on Monday, when everything else is closed.

The house of Van Buuren is definitely worth a visit. The interiors are spectcaular and the garden are wonderful. We were there in bad weather Christmas day - and even under those circumstances walking outside was a great experience.

This is one of Brussels hidden museumgems ! This was the house of a Dutch banker and his wife, and they adored art..You can submerge yourself of being a millionaire in the mid 20th century, by strolling through their house. Everything was custom made , and most of the paintings hanging are from painters who where regulars there. The garden is enormous ( in a big city ) and very nice sculptured. After paying admission , you first get a plan of the garden and maze (!) , afterwards you get covers for your shoes, ( ladies : don't come on high heels!) and a folder explaining the foundation, the life and the art of this awesome museum. Do this, you will never experience art so close!

This house was a lovely find located in UCCLE District where a lot of Art Deco houses were built. The tram stop is Churchill. The house is in very good condition left as David and Alice van Buuren had left it with photos on the piano and lovely paintings and furniture. The garden is also a delight to visit.

This is the home of Brussels financier David van Buuren and his wife. Through their wealth and love for the arts they amassed an impressive collection of fine art works to adorn their art deco home. Preserved just as it was upon Alice van Buuren's death, this 'museum' and its gardens are well worth the admission and the drive.

This is less a museum, and though it is a house, it is clearly a home built with love and a great sense of style. Walking through its rooms, it is so easy to appreciate the life the Van Buurens lived so well. They were wealthy, but in no way ostentatious; they used their wealth to commission pieces [furniture, art objects and so on] to be done by friends and northern European artists, many of whom were frequent visitors here. The gardens are more recent in their construction, only a tiny percentage of the original land holding, but nevertheless offer peaceful aspects from each window. The use of timber and glass, especially, calls to mind some Frank Lloyd Wright homes, and his fans will surely enjoy this home too.

The Musee David et Alice van Buuren is not close to the city center but the trip is totally worth it. So far I have been in the three house-museums of Brussels (Horta, Villa Empain and David et Alice van Buuren) and I have to pick one, it would be a difficult task. In terms of Art, this house-museum has much more impressive collection (in terms of quality not in quantity). The gardens are beautiful and the maze was fun. In addition, the neighborhood is itself a museum. For those who have been in Antwerp it has the same vibe as the Cogels-Oseley (but its is not homogeneous Art Nouveau, it is very eclectic). Some of the houses there can be museums as well. Photography is not allowed inside.

Very nice house built in Art Deco style in 1928 and appears in original condition. Full of stained glass, paintings, sculptures, furniture, capets etc from the period. Extensive garden is worth a visit - nicely laid out with some humourous touches (maze, art installations). Located in Uccle near Churchill tram stop. OPEN MONDAY (closed Tuesday) but be aware of limited opening hours! Well worth a visit. Ice cream, tea, beer, snack etc - get off the tram at the previous stop: plenty of options here.

If you like Art Deco run to this museum. It was the former home of the van Buuren family. Interior furnishings are special. The outside garden deserves as much face time as the interior of the home. Look around the garden and figure out where the garden equipment is stored!!!

If you love art Deco you will fall in love with this place, its a time capsule to the era with large beautiful gardens, staff are really friendly and speak English.

Very beautiful 'Gesamtkunstwerk' in Art Deco-style with Flemish and Italian masters. Excellent destination when you are not in the mood for large musea and still want a real inspiring cultural experience.

Early C20 house furnished in art deco style and with a large garden which is a superb suburban oasis and which passes the key tests: I would love to live in it, and I went away inspired to make some changes to my own house and garden based on what I had seen.

What a find! Just get a tram to Churchill which is at the end of one of the lines. A five minute walk from there. Open on a Sunday. If you like Art Deco, this is the place. You have most of the house to wander around in your own time. Although I would have loved to have seen every room (no kitchen or bedrooms). The large garden is interesting too.
