How much time do you have? We are Euro-travelers to the core, in the middle of a two-month jaunt through central Europe. We had a couple days in Bratislava and decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather to see the castle ruins. We caught the 29 bus under the overpass directly below Bratislava Castle, opposite the UFO part of the bridge. It is about 20 minutes from the city centre to Devin Castle. Near the bus stop there are several coffee shops, a nice playground and walking paths. The admission was 1.50 Euros per adult, as the WC and the visitors' centre were both closed. I think typical admission is 3.00 Euros. As you make your way up the hill, you are continually struck by beautiful views of a nearby town, the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers and the ruins standing tall on the hillside. The tiny maiden tower is most striking. Go at sunset for the best photos. The views of the Danube are not to be missed. We also avoided lots of tourist traffic by going later in the afternoon. Plenty of space for children to run around, though there are some dangerous rocks, steep hills and slippery bits to consider. Don't miss this!

Well worth a trip and an effort to learn the history. Well maintained and fabulous views of the river and town.

It was our last day in Bratislava and before we go home we decided to visit the Devin Castle. It was 8.30 am and they didn't let us in because it is too early. No open bar were found around where we can have a cup of coffee, so we left and didn't have a chance to visit it.

Having spent more than one hour walking in amazing ruins of the Devin castle, I have to write down that it is a very good choice when you have chosen Bratislava as your trip destination. This, more than 1000 years old heritage of the Slovak history, offers very nice walk and amazing views of the Danube river and surrounding nature. It's very close to Bratislava and reachable by the public transport from the city centre. So when you will stay in the Slovak capital, don't miss this monument.

Great place for walking in nature surounded with great historical ruins. We didn't pay the entrance. Place has a big parking lot and little bars to grab a snack. Also we saw little horses for children to ride.Great experience.

Clean and clearly well maintained old castle. One of the best activities to do while in Bratislava. The views from the hill are beautiful - you can see Slovakia, Czech Republic and Austria when you look out over the Danube. However I would have expected more historic / geographical information to be available at the site. Entrance was cheap at one euro fifty. However we did lose a lot of time waiting for the local buses to come as they were not on schedule and one didn't turn up at all. However the castle and location are well worth the trip. If the tourist tours are open would perhaps be better for getting there and getting informed- they were out of season and unavailable in February.

As I find castles and ruins very attractive, I really enjoyed visit of Devin ruins. It is very well acessible from center of Bratislava and I think it is well worth to visit, especially if you are already fed up with city. You caan acess it by public transport and take a short peaceful stroll along Danube river, til you reach entrance of the castle. If you feel like, you can take refreshment stop in one of many pubs/restaurants near by, or try the local famous blackcurrent wine sold from the stand. The entrance fee to the ruins is 1.50 euro. It is nice and photogenic place, especially on a sunny day with beautiful view to Danube and surroundings. I like going there

We didn't pay to go inside, but the building from outside is worth a look! There is some work going on the in the grounds. Would be interesting to see what it will be like when it's finished.

Easy to reach from Bratislava, an impressive castle and surrounding forts. Village situation is a little out of the way and if in winter it gets very windy as exposed hilltop but worth a visit. Lovely views of the Danube.

The castle stands just inside Slovak territory on the frontier between Slovakia and Austria. The border runs from west to east along the Morava River and subsequently the Danube. I use to visit Devin castle when the Knights festival event take place. Very good for families to walk up and see the nice surrounding. Also for bikers its a place with goog cycling infrastructure around to Castle and by the river Danube and Morava they can see a lot of natural beauties of this region.

Castle Devin is one of the most beautiful places in Bratislava especialy in spring or sommer. If you would like to see the Bratislava city from another side, you have to visit it. By the castle is also opportunity to visit the museum, good restaurant, drink some local wine or beer, make picknick, fishing or walking and biking in beautiful place. If you would like drive there by the car, parking is quiet big and for free. So, charge your cameras and go for visit the Devin castle.

this place existed in BC and it still stands here. It has great energy. It is still very solid. We had the guide and she was very pasionate about the Slovak history. I had no idea how old this little nation was.

I went to devin on nice winter day, in January, no storm, no wind, sun now and then, and I found it closed! On the main gate there was a notice, saying that the castle can be visisted only on good weather. But the weather was indeed good. I strolled in the park around the castle. The castle view seems very interesting.

The castle and grounds are so nice and well worth the climb from the Old Town. Plus, the views from the top are great !

We popped into the castle grounds after a walk down the Moravian wetlands and we were pleasantly surprised by the little town and the castle. The position where the Morava river meets the Danube as you look over towards Austria has layers of historical significance- most recently the iron curtain. We took our dog for a walk around the paths (along with all other local dog walkers - so not a place for her to run free!) but she was not allowed into the castle grounds. The castle itself is well maintained and interesting. The upper castle was closed when we visited - I am not sure if it will be reopened anytime soon, but still worth the 1.50euros it cost to get in. There looked to be some interesting walks around so will pop back in the spring when it is a bit warmer (I gather that the Mosquitos are a bit much in the summer) and the cafés may be open then too.
