ochtinska aragonite cave

this UNESCO recognized cave is the only aragonite cave in europe the only two other caves of this magnitude and richness of crystals are located in argentina and mexico.the uniqueness of this caves is in a fact that calcium carbonate crystalizes here in a from of aragonite and not calcite (the typical form of all the other caves). so you would find here stalaktites or any form of sintronous (calcite) decoration - but you will be overwhelmed by white star shaped crystals randomly hanging from the ceilings, growing amorphously like a snow from every direction and all this in an impressive, fairy-tale like narrow tunnel crushed from both sides by a schism of two pushing mountain walls.entry fee was 6 euro, plus 10 euro for a camera.

Cette grotte est tout simplement sublime !!! Comme pour quasiment toutes les grottes en Slovaquie le parking est payant et la prise de photo aussi. Mais vu ce qu'on découvre à l'intérieur il est vraiment dommage de ne pas repartir avec quelques souvenirs en images. Classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, il n'existe que 3 grottes au monde de la sorte : une en Argentine, une au Mexique et donc celle-ci. Absolument à voir si vous êtes dans le coin.
