Our once-in-a-lifetime experience of cruising the Norwegian fjords was highlighted by the great beauty and splendor of the Geiranger Fjord. The cascading waterfalls, the mountains were a breath-taking view and are a visual description of what serenity is. Our cruise ship, The Hurtigruten and its crew did a wonderful job in guiding and telling us through the whole journey. I highly recommend this experience for couples, retirees and any kid who would like to see the real version of the fjords they showed in the Disney movie Frozen.

The ship tied up to a mooring buoy at Geiranger and a seawalk was moved out for disembarcation. Very efficient and something only RCL used. Before and after mooring at the town of Geiranger, the ship cruised through the Fjord. There were vacant farms on the sides of the fjord as well as gorgeous waterfalls. We saw people kayaking throughout the fjord. I would love to return!

I recommend visiting the fjord during summer as it's amazingly stunning then. Most of the people working in the town are not Norwegian so don't expect much authentic Norwegian food, but the fjord itself is amazing. They have a chocolate shop in town which makes local chocolate, check that out. There's also a museum. Other than that, I don't recommend staying here as there's nothing much to do, it's a *very* small town. A day trip is preferred.

Norway is beautiful and a trip here without going to see Geirangerfjord is like going to Arizona and not see the Grand Canyon. Definitely recommended!

We were fortunate to go on a cruise to this area (I particularly want to go to this fjord as it looks so beautiful in the pictures) of Norway. We were on the Marco Polo which was able to cruise right down the fjord to this small village. The scenery is fantastic (we were lucky with the weather). The village is very pretty, do go to the chocolate shop (if you like chocolat!), we bought an excellent cheese slicer in the gift shop (I had one some time ago from Norway and it was excellent so I was glad they had one there). It is worth walking up to the church and visitors centre it had a river running down to the centre. We also had a trip to the mountain which was amazing. I was so glad our cruise went along this fjord, I would recommend it totally !

A stunning place, this should be on the bucket list for any traveller. July & August will see the waterfalls at their peak due to higher levels of melt water.

The landscape is absolutely wonderful, but we really couldn't enjoy it, as the place was absolutely jam-packed with frustrated tourists (ourselves included). The fjord cruise was nice though - even if the boat was also jam-packed. If you just looked at the magnificent rock-faces, the isolated and now abandoned farms and the waterfalls, and ignored the complaining, entitled tourists, you could almost imagine you were alone. ;)

Geiranger Fjord is one of the most amazing landscapes I have encountered.We took a tour boat which leaves from Geiranger pier and cruises through the fjord until it reaches Valldal Fjord where it turns around and returns to Geiranger village. Steep walls with many waterfalls come down from the snowy mountains where they touch this narrow arm of the sea.The tour boat has seats on deck and indoors. Since we took the trip in May, it was quite cold on deck and I had to warm up a little bit in the inside. The tour boat has ceiling windows that you won't miss the view to the top of the walls.If you like to do an independent boat trip, you can rent motor boats and kayaks at a boat rental near Geiranger camp site. I am sure it is great fun to do that. However, since was traveling with my mother (80), that wouldn't have been the appropriate way of exploring the fjord.May is a good season to visit the Fjord. Although still quite cool, it is not crowded which - I have heard - can be a problem in summer time.

We cruised in through the fjord and were greeted with amazing waterfalls and nature's spectacular beauty. Our cruise ship stopped by the small village for the day and we had a bus to take us right to the highest point and enjoyed more spectacular views.If I had a chance to go back, I'd like to stay a minimum time of one week, and discover the unbeaten tracks. A UNESCO Heritage Site that should go into the bucket list of those who love nature with perfect picture postcardsWe arrived at the sunniest of weather in June, sky was so clear, but there was still much snow up on the highest elevation.

Geiranger is the ost famouse fjord in Norway, visited by hundreds of thousands every year, by car and cruiseships. It has a small sentrum and many nice hotels, cafees, restaurants and small shops. The view from up the Ørnevegen is as u see on the pic, just amazing. Sailing in the fjord, passing the waterfall Seven sisters are just fantastic. Also to see the farms climbing in the mountain sides. Must be seen!

Great place to visit. The size of the fjords is massive, a cruise ship looks like a dot once you get to the top of the fjord. It's magni. If you visit the fjords only book a cruise that has this stop on it, you won't regret it.

Geiranger was one of the ports on our cruise to Norway's fjords; and Geirangerfjord is one of the country's best known and most spectacular fjords. The channel is ten miles long with picture postcard views of sheer cliffs, waterfalls, and gorgeous green water all the way. It's a photographer's paradise. The channel is only about 1600 feet wide, about 1200 feet deep, with peaks up to 6000 feet high on each side. In a word...it's simply splendid.Waterfalls are best in spring when there is lots of snow melt. They are named 'Seven Sisters', the 'Suitor', 'Bridal Veil', and more. We took a rib boat to get a closer look and it was well worth the investment. They suited us up in what looked like space suits complete with goggles and hoods. We had a wonderful time. Little farmsteads are perched precariously on the cliffs on either side of the Fjord. One can only imagine the treacherous paths used to reach these places.Make sure to look at my photos to get a good idea of this wonderful fjord. It's one not to miss when you are in Western Norway.

To sail the Geiranger Fjord in the spring all the way to the little village of Geiranger is to travel to the fantasy worlds we have seen in movies and we've read about in books - a luxurious fjord, with all shades of green, high waterfalls, cliffs and mountains and clear blue water.Geiranger Fjord is a MUST VISIT for all landscape and nature lovers.
