If you're interested in larvian hiatory,this place muat be on your list-you actually can do 4 in 1 when in this region as here are 2 castles next to each other and another 10 minutes driving away is turaida and if you take cable car (can drive car there,too) you'll reach Krimulda cadtle ruins and manor.

Although these are small castle ruins (I mean - there are only walls, no real exhibitions etc.), it is really nice to walk around them. There is a nice view to Gauja Valley and there is possible to climb on the walls, as well as try out different medieval-themed attractions (for additional charge).

This is nice castle. You can walk inside and climb up. We see everything in 20 minutes. Take pictures with sword in your hands and helmets. Nice guy sells ticket. Friendly.

Nice place where lot of beautiful objects are together - picturesque and unique ruins of Sword Order where annual Opera festival take place, Prince Kropotkin palace, and eldest in Eastern Europe bobsleigh trail, beautiful small park - everything is here. Small fee is only for entrance of Order castle itself.

I made a quick photo stop here on my way to Turaida Castle. I really did not go in. There is an interesting artist working in sand in a small shop next to the parking lot. Worth a look.

Less to see than Turaida Castle but worth a visit. This is a more traditional castle than Turaida and is built in a commanding location overlooking surrounding lands and Turaida Castle. You can walk around the castle and climb the 2 towers. In one tower you can try antique armour and wield a sword. The chainmail weighs a lot but I am glad I tried it on. Outside you can try the stocks if you dare and admire the view. There is an open are stage so it could be worth looking to see when they have a show on.

The old castle is quite interesting and if you are with a guide it will become more alive. You can try your luck at archery. Several children were doing this, but I was horrified that the target was a picture of a little deer. Is this where children learn to kill animals? A round bull's eye would be more appropriate. There is a great view from the tower which amazingly has a lift. In the summer they hold outdoor concerts here which would be very pleasant. The castle is located in the Gauja National Park, where you can walk or cycle.

Замки, старый и новый, расположены на высоком берегу Гауи, напротив Турайдского замка. Вокруг- живописный парк. Нам очень не повезло с погодой (дождь лил три дня как из ведра), поэтому было не разгуляться. Но обязательно вернемся еще!!

Старый и новый дворцы Сигулды находятся рядом друг с другом на небольшой территории, что удобно для осмотра. Между дворцами разбит небольшой сад, в котором высажено много цветов. Красиво, время пролетает не заметно.

Não entrei no castelo, apenas passeei nos arredores. Belo jardim! Do fundo do castelo, tive a primeira vista da floresta do parque gauja. Muito bonita!

Первый раз была, когда замок был больше похож на развалины, а сейчас так красота стала. Очень красиво, уютно, потрясающий вид на окрестности,уходить не хотелось.

Замок хорошо расположен рядом с новым сигулдским дворцом. Так что прогулка получается двойная. Были там в январские - ничего не работали, но по территории ходить можно и даже бесплатно.

Old Sigulda Castle находится далековато от железнодорожной станции. Пешком идти порядка 30 мин. Нашли его благодаря карте, взятой в инфоцентре. Сейчас, это заново воссозданный замок (новодел), перед ним разбиты красивые клумбы с цветами, небольшой сад. Здесь очень красиво и уютно. Посмотреть определенно стоит.

Были в замке под вечер. Атмосфера непередаваемая. Кажется что оказался на 500 лет назад в Средневековье.
