Worthy of a visit just for the archbishops throne. The collection is diverse. The curators have done a great job of labelling the exhibits in Italian and English. As an aside - the bathrooms were very clean

We are not that fond of most museums but found this one very well laid out with many interesting displays that helped us understand the whole city far better.

The pass we got included this visit and we liked it, but the chapel is so small!!! No pictures are allowed. The museum is ok, but there are so many wonderful places to visit in Ravenna, that I think this one is just average.

Contains the throne of Archbishop Maximian which has the most brilliantly carved ivory panels . This one item is worth the visit.

This is really a great site which I almost stumbled upon. The Ivory throne of Maximian. The chapel of San Andrea, was small, but had beautiful mosaics. It must have been a quiet place for the bishops to pray. There were also some modern Silver gilt sculptures that were attractive and lots of ancient artifacts

Small museum with at least 2 masterpieces. One is the bishop throne, with the carved scenes from the old and new testament, that represents a piece of early christian art. The other one is the chapel of San Andrea with its beautiful mosaic. Get the combo ticket and don't miss this hidden gem.

The highlight of a visit to this small museum must surely be the sight of the bishops throne. Exquisite carving and of great historic interest.

Truthfully, we stopped here looking for a restroom (they have a nice one) because it was close to the baptistery we had just left and it was free on the combined ticket. But, so glad we did stop here and we stayed longer than intended. Surprised what we saw. The museum didn't do much for us after many hours of being awed by the mosaics in Ravenna. But, we were once again awed by this chapel. Different from the rest of Ravenna. It was cool inside. Large and uncrowded. Very easy to enjoy. Plenty of places to sit and take it all in. A nice rest stop as well as beautiful.

The museum has some really unique pieces like the archbishop's ivory chair and a wall calendar, as well as a stunning small chapel, but most of the collection is funerary art and not particularly impressive. But the museum is right next to the Neoniano Baptistry and included in the combo ticket, so you can just pop in and see the few interesting things.

The museum would be nice elsewhere. In Ravena, after you visit the real monuments, it is difficult to present a museum that will impress you.

I probably would not have gone to the Archepiscopal Museum if it hadn't been included in the combined ticket for the top sights in Ravenna, but I am very glad that I went. The first few rooms mostly display funerary art, which was nice but not awe-inspiring. However, the small oratory of St Andrew was a real gem with gorgeous mosaics depicting apostles, evangelists, martyrs and saints on a scale and level where they can easily be seen and appreciated. The facial details and distinctive expressions were especially interesting. The museum also has some other beautiful and unusual pieces such as a 6th century episcopal throne made of ornately carved ivory and an unusual 4th or 5th century Easter Calendar used to determine when the Spring Equinox and, therefore, Easter, would fall. Don't miss this little museum!

This is different than the other places in Ravenna. There are some very interesting pieces that are worth seeing.

Lots of interesting things to see, and the chapel of St Andrew is a real find. Another place in Ravenna that appears under rated and under visited.

An exquisite ivory throne, and many treasures from the city's Classical past are on display here. There are also some lovely mosaics. Worth taking time for a visit.
