Bernini is a genius. This tomb is exceptional and you have to love how Bernini and his team built this tomb to allow for the door. Again, pure genius by Bernini.

As a Catholic of Polish ancestry, the tomb of St. John Paul II was extremely important for me to see. From outside the barrier they've put up, you may take photos. Inside the barrier is reserved only for prayer. It is a rather simple tomb, especially compared to the others at St. Peter's. But for such an influential man, such a holy man, such a popular pope, such a wonderful, caring, and beautiful individual, it is fitting. He lived a simple life of faith and love for God and man. To kneel and say a prayer in front of JPII's tomb is something I will never forget.

Compared to the other tombs and monuments inside St. Peter's Basilica, this tomb for Pope John Paul II is fairly simple in form. And, in its simplicity, lies its beauty.

John Paul II is probably one of the most popular pope and this beautiful tomb is deserving of his legacy. Yet another beauty of St. Peter's Basilica.

Pope John Paul II's tomb is found near the Pieta. The tomb itself is an attractive white marble tomb, and doesn't really detract from the splendor of the chapel it has been placed in. But for me this was a very important place, as St. Pope John Paul II and his writings/teachings have been a huge influence on me (especially his Theology of the Body writings), and he's one of my heroes and inspirations. In fact, one of my sons was named after him. So, coming here to pray with other pilgrims was very special for me.

Pope John Paul II was the second longest-serving pope in modern history. The tomb is relatively simple. However, it is a place worth to stop by for a few minutes of prayer. He was recognized as helping to end Communist rule in his native Poland and eventually all of Europe. John Paul II significantly improved the Catholic Church's relations with other religions in the world.

AUGUST 2013, Our hostess/manager at Residenza Borghese reserved to the Vatican tour for us for $62 US per person. We were picked up at our hotel, brought to the tour site, received earphones and receivers and followed an english-speaking italian guide past the long line into the entrance, she had our tickets and gave one to each of us before following her with her colorful flag into the Vatican walls, up the escalator and into the many room. We visited the Piazza San Pietro and Basilica.

It's probably the simplest tomb and one of the least monumental pieces in the whole basilica - but i guess that was the point. There's usually a not-that-long queue to get closer to the tomb and pray - but no photos are allowed in this small area.

not a christian,so it seemed to u like many other graves in st.bascilica but much more simpler in decorations.but what most attract me was the great number of prayers(more than other graves) who prayed heatfully and with respect there.so we respect him aswell.i really liked the scene of deep emptions of prayers kneeling down and crying sometimes.also alot of nuns were praying aswell.

St. John Paul II really changed the world. It's tomb is a very simple one but you can get close and spend some moments in prayer.

Honoring a Pope who changed the world. You must remain very quiet when you are within this area as it is sacred. You will be permitted to enter and say a prayer and leave as quietly as you entered. It is located in the Basilica, near the Pieta.

Saint John Paul II's tomb is located within the Chapel of Saint Sebastian, on the right side of Saint Peter's Basilica as you enter--between the Chapel of the Pieta and the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. This is a holy tomb within one of the holiest places in Christendom, to honor a Pope whose legacy changed the world. One of the most visited tombs within the Basilica, it is easy to find not only by its location near the Pieta, but also by the large numbers of the Faithful gathered here throughout each day.
