Hello everybody, I'm a Tour Guide & Driver and i drive in Tuscany everyday!I strongly suggest you to visit Monteriggioni. Simple the most unspoilt fortress medieval town in Tuscany

After fighting crowds in places like San Gimignano, we enjoyed the leisurely pace of Monteriggioni. A great place for a couple of peaceful hours of semi-sightseeing/semi-lounging. Take a walk on the walls (with sweeping views of the countryside - there's a minimal charge, and it's worth it), do some poking around the town, and have a snack in the piazza.

We paid for the tickets to walk along the walls of Monteriggioni. It was pretty cheap but it was really beautiful and fun. All along the walls we would stop to take photos because there wasn't a view that wasn't photo worthy. During the time we went there was a person playing the cello by the entrance to the town and the music was lovely. We had a chat with him and found out that his name is Peter Lewy and he's a teacher from New York and he was very helpful with tips on where to go. We were going to skip Cinque Terre because it was a little out of the way from where we were going next but he convinced us to go and I am so glad he did! :) Monteriggioni was one of my favorite cities in Italy!

Cute little city near Siena and Florence. People dress up in medieval style and you actually feel like you're from that century. The view is beautiful and the houses are a charm. If you feel you have 1-hour to spare, make this a stop.

We purchased a EUR1.5 ticket to the wall walk and thoroughly enjoyed the sunset view one can enjoy from them.

Check the dates in July/August and consider coordinating your trip with the summer festival! There was all sorts food and drink as well as crafts and even animals everywhere!

This is a delightful micro example of a classic Italian hill top walled city and the best thing is it's accessibility. You can park right at the "front gate" and within a few meters you are in the center of town. This is very low key but has all the essentials...sidewalk cafe's, old church, small neighborhoods complete with laundry hanging from the window, etc. On top of that for a small fee you can climb a reasonable amount of stairs and walk part of the way around on the walls. The walls of this town are still intact, but you are allowed to only walk a small part. It gives you and idea of what it was really like to live in a walled community. We were there early in the morning, but ended up staying long enough to have a nice bowl of "farm house" soup and a glass of red wine. This is a great place to visit for those with limited mobility.

excellent place for a not too hectic walk around- 2 hours more than ample but wonderful atmosphere. make it part of day rather than the whole!

A classic hill town and the short part of the walls that are open to viewing give a great sense of what the area looks like. you can understand why this town was never taken. The town itself can be seen in 20 minutes which gives you no excuse for passing by this pearl of a medieval walled city!

There are two small walkways on the ancient walls of Monteriggioni and for a few Euros you can buy a ticket to feel like a real medieval knight

Short incomplete walk around the walls of the town, lovely views of the surrounding countryside Price of ticket covers both sections of walkable wall.

This stunning little citadel can be seen from the main road from Siena. Literally only 7 minutes off it you are parked in the spacious car park and walking up to the citadel. The settlement is totally surrounded by high fortified walls, which you can pay to promenade a section of. Newlwy completed it's well worth it purely for the views - on the day we were there we could even see San Gimignano. There are places to sit and either eat or drink in the square and a tiny church. Well worth a visit, totally unspoilt and retaining it's charm.

What you can get, with a ticket of few Euros, is one of the most amazing view on the Chianti hills, while beyond your back there is a wonderful middle-age village with several small shops and restaurant. Just wonderful
