Undoubtedly it is the best lookout point of the city, from here you have a 180 degrees panoramic view over the city.To reach this square is easy even if we have to walk a bit 'before reaching the top of the hill. In correspondence with the famous Stone Bridge, from here on begins the pathway steps to reach up to ''Piazzale Castello San Pietro''.I believe there is also a road to get there by car, in fact in the square, I saw a few cars parked, but get walking is a firm of about 10-15 minutes. You will be rewarded the effort by this unforgettable view.

The view of Verona from Castel San Pietro is absolutely breathtaking! Even on a cloudy day, the view is something unimaginable. Definitely a must when visiting Verona and best thing is that it's free unlike a lot of other tourist must-sees. There's also a car park for those that are driving which was handy also.

Interesting strategical position, excellent views, hidden corners to be discovered, well documented tour and exhibitions.

Wonderful place to take panoramic pictures of Verona. Is very easy to arrive and you can park the car in the same square. As you arrived by car, you dont need physical efforts to arrive, so is very recommend for who have children or any restrictions

We crossed the river wandered the back streets in search of the road that leads up to the Piazzale and boy is it worth it. The view is magnificent. After taking heaps of photos and dodging workers renovating the Castel we walked towards the restaurant and low and behold there are steps straight down to the road where the Ponte Pietra bridge is!! So easy that way. A walk leadsto the Fontana del Ferro, not far from the Torricelle, formerly part of the Quadrilateral. Anyway, whichever way you decide to walk, the long way past the locals or up the steps, its well worth doing.

A bit of a climb, but oh so worth it. The view is spectacular. We went in October this year and the weather was perfect. Just do it!

you can find the stairs to the castle from the base of the small bridge that crosses the river. It is a steep climb but well worth the amazing view of the city. Sadly the city was largely covered with winter fog

From on top of the hill where Castel S Pietro is located provides a commanding view and strategic position overlooking Verona. The palace on top of the hill was constructed in 1851 designed by Colonel Petrasch. It has been the Property of the City of Verona since 1932 and is not open to the public. But again, that's okay because the view is great! Time for visit - 30 minutes.

This viewpoint is absolutely the most beautiful in Verona with stunning views of the area! There are a couple of trees blocking the right side (including Ponte Pietra) but besides for that, it's perfect!Personally I had a car so I can't really comment on the hike up, but after seeing that view I can definitely say that would hike up to see it! Absolutely a must on your trip to Verona. Enjoy!

People whine about the walk or lack of bathroom. It is the view. It's free! Yes Italy doesn't stay clean but the houses on the way up are pretty. There is a bar there too! Just look.

The hike up the hill is picturesque and the view from up top is excellent. Usually there aren't many tourists up there, so it's quite and relaxing. The "castle" isn't really a castle, but really an 1800s building that is now abandoned. It was built by the Austrians to house their soldiers. Behind it though are the ruins of an old castle from the Middle ages with a park.

The walk up is not that bad, really. I hesitated due to some of the reviews talking about the hard climb up, as we were walking from the other side of town. I am glad we gave it a go as it really wasn't difficult. Sure there are stairs but you can stop along the way and there is a nice park where you can sit for a while and enjoy the view before you reach the very top.My 19 year old son and I went up to watch the sun setting over Verona. It was beautiful watching the changing light and we enjoyed the walk up and down and through the town. The only negative I would say was the mosquitos so take some repellant if they bother you.

The date of my visit for the first time was in February 2011, and another visit in May 2013. This Castel has had a very chequered history but luckily I had a good guide who told me many interesting things about its past. It is the art gallery for Verona and traces the history of art from medieval times through Renaissance to modern day.

We walked up to the castle to watch the sunset over Verona. Great views and well worth the short easy climb (part steps and part sloped path). The open tour bus also drives to the castle.
